Level: Direct Care

Job Shift: Day (7 AM – 7 PM), 30-minutes AM break, 1-hour lunch break, 1-hour dinner break, and 2 days off.

Job Overview: Provide direct personal care and supervision to the clients at the facility. The staffing pattern for this department is primary care. Promote resident’s well-being and satisfaction through support with activities of daily living. Communicate with other staff to ensure resident’s needs are met. This is a full-time position with regular business hours. Occasional evenings will be required.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Caregiver:

1. Assist the residents with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, and other personal hygiene.

2. Assist residents with their medications as assigned, following facility protocol, licensing regulation and guidelines for both resident and employee safety.

3. Follow safety guidelines in the facility, including proper lifting techniques and precautions when providing care to the residents.

4. Housekeeping as cleaning of the facility and laundry of residents.

5. Function as a team, assisting co-workers as needed.

6. Monitor resident’s activity, food intake, functional status, psychosocial status, taking action as required to promote the wellbeing of residents.

7. Report any change in resident’s status immediately to the Supervisor/Administrator.

8. Act immediately on any resident crisis, following protocol and basic first aid training.

9. In the event all assigned duties cannot be completed, ask for assistance and report to the Administrator.

10. Prepare meals for residents.

11. Promote open communication between health care professionals, families, residents, and staff.

12. Provide assistance to residents at night, as needed.

13. Conduct group social/recreational activities for residents.

14. Perform any other duties as assigned by direct supervisor or Administrator.

15. Report to the Administrator/Licensee.

Qualifications:

Experience and knowledge of working with diverse populations, including persons with dementia

Experience working in an assisted living setting preferred

Desired Skills and Abilities

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Capacity to handle confidential and sensitive information

Ability to work within a team-based structure

Ability to remain calm, focused, productive and helpful under stress

Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, excellent attention to detail and flexibility

Organized, self-motivated, and reliable
