The Opportunity…

Our team members enjoy a typical (40 hrs) work week of M-F. We provide benefits right away (without a 90-day waiting period). Some of our install opportunities may have prevailing wages, and overtime opportunities as well.

- Lead installations of solar electric systems with crews of volunteers and/or job trainees

- Responsible for all technical and safety aspects of PV installations

- Train volunteers in solar electric installation

- Ensure that all solar installations are installed according to GRID Alternatives safety and quality standards

- Other job duties include equipment purchasing, hardware store runs, equipment unloading and loading, answering homeowner and volunteer questions, talking to media, and generally participating in activities necessary to make solar happen for low-income families.

What you need to bring to this role…​

- Experience in PV system installation, design, and troubleshooting

- Experience leading a crew in PV installation

- Excellent communication skills (ability to work with volunteers and clients, ability to represent GRID Alternatives positively)

- Comfortable working as part of a team

- Flexibility and willingness to embrace change, go the extra mile, and bring ideas and energy to a rapidly growing organization

- Willingness to work on evenings and weekends

- Valid Driver's License and clean driving record

- Travel throughout neighboring counties

CA hired candidates must be able to pass a screening for drugs that are illegal in the state of California, including amphetamine, cocaine metabolite, opiates, and PCP. Testing does not include cannabis as it is legal in CA.

It would be great if you also had…

- Passion for sustainability, affordable housing, the environment, or environmental justice, or just generally grounded in making the world a better place

- Experience in training and/or working with volunteers

- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Sketchup or AutoCAD

- NABCEP certified

- Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM database

Where you will sit & the places you may go

This position is located in our North Valley region in Sacramento CA, and may require up to 25% out-of-town travel to regional offices, special projects, and neighboring counties' installation locations. Availability to work nights and weekends may be required.

GRID Alternatives provides vehicles for work travel, and due to COVID-19 current guidelines, we may also require limited personal vehicle use. In the latter instance, GRID will provide travel reimbursement for work-related personal vehicle use in accordance with our payroll schedule. Additionally, all applicants will need a valid driver’s license and good driving record to be considered.
