We are seeking a Supervisor, Shipping. This is a Direct Hire opportunity. This key position will be based in our Sylmar, California facility. The role of Supervisor, Shipping directly manages and oversees the logistics requirements of Sylmar including shipping, finished goods inventory, parts, and pick-up & delivery as required.This position will maintain the company in compliance with all local, state, federal and international transportation laws and trade programs by working with Sourcing and Supply Chain team. This position will also be responsible to work with other locations when requested to ensure uniformity across all facilities.What you’ll be responsible for in this role:Hands on management of multiple departments including, finished goods inventory, parts shipping, dock loaders, coordinators and drivers. Will conduct annual evaluations of personnel with performance to goal as well as performance issues and complaints. Driving continuous improvement within the department and supporting all internal and external customers with timely and accurate reporting/information.

Developing and monitoring key performance metrics for safety, quality, costs, on time delivery, truck turnaround times and space management utilizing industry best practices.

Analyzing logistical issues, reporting out and producing new solutions for claims, accessorial, and invoice exceptions.

Support carrier/vendor management and compliance for import/export and inbound/outbound. Assist with International Compliance Trade Program (companywide). Support of Supply Chain for inbound freight and ongoing evaluations of all import lanes and incoterms as required.

Business owner of Logistics/IT projects (project management) including EDI, RFID, finished goods tracking and accuracy, Packing projects, efficient use of TMS, overall carrier analysis and performance metrics.

Monitor/Forecast department and transportation budget for Sylmar CA and assist with other Locations as required. Forecasting and month-end reporting of revenue and finished goods.

What are the basic qualifications?Minimum 5 years of experience in a transportation management position.

What are the preferred qualifications?Bachelor’s degree

Proficiency in MS Office suite including Excel, Word and PPT.

Proven track record of managing of multiple teams in support of logistics goal.

Demonstrated, performance driven and results orientation with a focus on continuous improvement to ensure efficiency and compliance in all facets of department.

Highly effective, articulate communication skills (verbal and written) with a strong interpersonal effectiveness and the ability to work with all levels of the organization.

Effectively collaborates, engages others in discussion and is a hands-on in problem solving.

Manage vendor’s selection to optimize alignment to company goals.

Able to adapt and rapidly respond to the changing demand of a fast passed, high growth service orient environment.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Can-do attitude.

Physical demands: Must be able to walk, stand and sit for extended periods. This position requires that weight be occasionally lifted, pushed, pulled, or forced. Should be able to lift up to 50 lbs. alone and up to 100 lbs. with assistance – following all safety procedures and requirements.

Work environment: Manufacturing. Majority of time spent in production floor. Appropriate PPE required per company policy-hearing, eye, arm, and foot protection.
