- Responsible for purchasing and negotiating materials, equipment and supplies in support of production needs per the Material Requirement Planning (MRP) or requisition system and recommends stock reorder points
- Evaluates vendor quotes and services by means of spend analysis and market analysis to determine most desirable quote
- Validates purchase order confirmation
- Establishes and maintains effective relationships with suppliers
- Resolves issues with rejections, certifications, delivery commitments (OTD), invoice discrepancies and other documentation problems
- Expedites delivery of critical items as required
- Evaluates suppliers on the basis of competitive advantage and supplier metrics
- Creates strategic objectives for supplier management with support from Management.
- Occasionally, the incumbent will be asked and expected to perform various, miscellaneous, and non-standard duties as required. Such duties are diversified in nature and may be changed from time to time to suit the needs of the company.
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum 6 years related experience in Purchasing, Supply Chain, or a technical position in a high-volume manufacturing environment and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Certified in production and inventory management (CPIM) preferred.
- Experience supporting production control, inventory, quality, and shipping and receiving functions.
- Experience in Enterprise Resource Planning, ERP/MRP messages and how to respond.
