DescriptionStaples is focused on our customer and our community. This is a remote contract position to support Retail Stores - to be located in CA time zone. As a HR Generalist for Staples, you will work with assigned managers and associates and be a valued contributor by managing the delivery of our HR policies, executing business specific projects and initiatives relating to human resources decisions, procedures and programs.The HR Generalist will act as a consultant and provide support for management teams and associates by answering non-routine requests for information on policy interpretation, providing advice and counsel on employee issues and implementing practices and programs in support of the US Retail HR.A successful HR Generalist will be an efficient execution specialist who can handle tactical activities and operate with urgency, credibility, and mindful prioritization.HR Operations:Resource for managers and associates to escalate HR issues (pay, benefits, leave of absence). Partner with HR Services to effectively resolve in a timely manner.

Advise on COVID related questions.

Support HR Business Partners as needed with follow up, reporting and any HR projects

Education Requirements:Preferred Bachelor’s degree in HR Management, Organizational Psychology, Business or related discipline.

PHR /SPHR certification preferred

Qualifications:A minimum 2 years of experience in Human Resources Operations function

Must be able to interpret California Employment and Labor Law; to include but not limited to (ADA, FMLA, PTO)

Critical Skills:Business acumen.

Computer Literacy:

Demonstrates strong working knowledge of MS-Office suite of software applications and tools, including: Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Project, MS-Outlook.

Preferred: Demonstrates excellent skills in Excel with the ability to use high level functions such as Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, Macros etc.

Problem solving skills.

Consulting, facilitating and excellent project management skills.

Cultural competence and agility.

Demonstrate a collaborative approach while identifying and solving issues.
