Byhosting more than 100 postdocs, who conduct vital research and receive advancedtraining with expert faculty mentors, Cedars-Sinai supports theongoing medical education process that continues beyond PhD/MD graduation.Overview: NeurosciencePostdoctoral scientists within the neuroscience cluster are studying the development, normal function, plasticity and diseases of the nervous system at the molecular, cellular or systems level. Distributed across the Departments of Biomedical Sciences, Neurology, Neurosurgery and the Regenerative Medicine Institute, a growing group of laboratories at Cedars-Sinai provide numerous outstanding postdoctoral training opportunities in neuroscience-related areas. Approaches include, among others, electrophysiology and imaging, cell culture and slice studies, genetic disease models, genomics, iPS-derived neural cells, biochemistry, behavior and computational approaches.Essential Job Duties andResponsibilities:May assist in preparation of grant proposals, but isnot responsible for generating grant funds.

May participate in publications and presentations asauthor or co-author.

Designs and performs experiments. Will keep appropriateexperimental records and documentation and analyze the results with thePrincipal Investigator.

May develop, adapt, and implement new researchtechniques and protocols.

Analyzes, interprets, summarizes and compiles data.

Performs routine and complex laboratory proceduresthroughout training period.

Operates and maintains equipment and instruments.

Education:Doctorate (MD, PhD, VMD,or DDS) in area directly related to field of research specialization.Experience:Works independently onresearch projects designed by a mentor (typically the PI) within area ofspecialization. Acquires thorough technical and theoretical knowledge ofresearch project and objectives during one to five (1-5) year post-doctoralappointment. Demonstrated aptitude to perform experimental protocols and procedures,including detailed data collection, and analysis and operation and maintenanceof specialized equipment.
