Position Overview:Job SummaryThis team member demonstrates proficiency in and knowledge of technical functions required in accomplishment of regular patient-care activities. The focus of the clerical role is to provide general clerical and clinical support to the nursing unit. This team member is responsible for chart management, data collection, forms management and orders supplies. In addition, this position processes admissions/discharges/transfers and departmental communication. Completes necessary documentation of patient being treated. Maintains technical skills, provides team support in care delivery. The UC/NA also provides care based on the age-related needs of the pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient with consideration of their developmental/psychosocial needs, environmental safety, education needs, communication style and level of understanding.Principle AccountabilitiesPatient Records: Provides secretarial and telephone support to maintain efficiency in the unit. Performs activities that support appropriate preparation and maintenance of the patient records.Clinical/Technical Skills: Demonstrates proficiency in and knowledge of technical functions required in accomplishment of regular patient-care activities.(e.g. vital signs, hygiene, beds, elimination, mobility/immobility, transport, dietary, infection control, and answering lights).Secretarial support: Provides secretarial and telephone support to maintain efficiency in the flow of activities within the unit. Performs activities that support appropriate preparation and maintenance of the patient records and completes necessary documentation of activities.Team Support in Care Delivery: Demonstrate organization of appropriate tasks that support the team.Qualifications:POSITION SUMMARYEducation, including Licensure/ Certification/ RegistrationHigh school Diploma is required.Basic Life Support Certification (American Heart Association) - HealthCare Provider - BLS-HCP is required.State of California Certified Nursing Assistant - CNA is required.Experience

Prior acute-care or sub-acute-care experience as Unit Clerk within the last 6 months.

Experience as a Nurse Assistant in an acute-care facility or recent extended-care experience.

Skills and Knowledge

Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology and basic anatomy.

Demonstrated ability to appropriately handle public contact, confidential information and maintain effective workflow systems; able to prioritize.

Demonstrated skills in the use of computer equipment and software programs.

Possess ability to read, speak, and write English legibly, spell correctly, and perform basic mathematics.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, are necessary.
