Position Overview:POSITION SUMMARYProvides imaging and patient care services at defined levels to patients.Principal Accountabilities:

Assesses and educates patients according to specific department protocols.

Implements radiation protection and safety standards to minimize radiation exposure to staff and patients.

Maintains mandated continuing education requirements.

May be required to train / precept students and new techs.

Operates a variety of complex stationary and mobile diagnostic equipment.

Positions patients and selects anatomic and technical exposure parameters accurately.

Prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within accepted scope of practice, and applicablestate/federal regulations.

Prepares for and assists the physician in a variety of imaging and/or invasive procedures.

Qualifications:MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTSEducation/ including Licensure/ Certification/ Registration

ARRT Registered Technologist, {RT(R)} in good standing, or eligible to take the ARRT Radiography registrationexamination.

BLS Healthcare Provider.

State Licensure (CRT) is required.

Fluoroscopy license as required by stateregulations (within 6 months of hire).

Graduate of a JRCERT accredited educational program in radiography.

Knowledge:

Must be knowledgeable of technical factors and radiographic views.

Understands radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation exposure to staff and patients.

Able to recognize potential abnormalities and prioritizeaccordingly.

Experience:

Previous experience as a Registered Radiologic Technologist is desirable.

Prior work experience in an acute carefacility is preferable.

Should be competent in:

All portable procedures including surgery setting

All C-arm procedures

Fluoroscopy

Minimally invasive procedures such as cysto-urethrograms, lumber punctures, myelograms, arthrograms

Skills:

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work unsupervised or with minimal supervision.

Must be able to work in a rapidly changing and challenging environment and take appropriate actions in emergentsituations.
