Veterinary Technician/ Assistant

We're growing! Our Assistants/ Technicians are integral to our success as a novel and unique mobile veterinary service. We are seeking candidates that enjoy taking initiative, creating connections, solving problems and are passionate about pets! Competitive compensation for well-experienced candidates.

Our Conejo Valley location needs an experienced full-time or part-time Veterinary Technician/ Assistant to bring this unique veterinary experience to the Ventura County areas.

Work schedules are flexible and usually consist of 2 to 4 ten-hour days, Saturdays may be required in the near future, and no on call. The practice culture is family friendly and allows for excellent work/life balance.

Candidates must be able to work independently, be flexible, possess good critical thinking and problem-solving skills, empathy, follow-through, and excellent teamwork skills. Multitasking and accepting constructive criticism is essential. A genuine interest in wanting to help people and their pets is necessary.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Review vaccination records, prepare and administer vaccines according to our vaccination protocols.

Assist veterinarian(s) with appointments and medical procedures using proper restraint.

Handle animals in a safe and humane manner.

Administer treatments and injections following the instructions of our veterinarian(s) or a treatment plan prepared by our veterinarian(s).

Perform routine laboratory procedures and analyses in hematology, microbiology, urinalysis, and serology. Also, prepare samples for outside laboratory analysis.

Induce anesthesia and intubate patients (RVT). Monitor patients under anesthesia.

Perform dental cleanings and extractions.

Perform catheterization- urinary and venous.

Take digital radiographs including dental radiographs.

Maintain pharmacy records and controlled drug logs. Demonstrate a basic understanding of the most commonly used veterinary drugs.

Demonstrate appropriate understanding and respect for the human-animal bond when dealing with clients and their animals.

Work well with others and can work independently as well.

Should be able to think critically, use problem-solving skills, make logical decisions, and execute a plan of action.

Keep assigned work areas clean and orderly. Demonstrate a basic knowledge of sanitary procedure.

Must possess and maintain a clean driving record; Safe driving practices and capabilities are a must.

Experience with AVImark is a plus, but not required.

You will need to be comfortable with technology. Can use Windows-based computer systems, MS Suite, Gmail, task management apps, smartphones, iPhones, web search and other skills as needed to effectively perform essential job duties.
