Process Engineer

FULL-TIME

MISSION / SUMMARY:

This role will be responsible for providing Engineering Support, and technical and machine troubleshooting support for the Visalia Plant. They will also be responsible for working on a team of engineers as they develop, test, modify, and create solutions to technical problems. The candidate must have basic knowledge in all facets of engineering, capital requests, procuring equipment and services, installation of new equipment, working with vendors and contractors, and converting process trouble shooting. Under general direction, will provide input on engineering projects, from planning to implementation. They understand and align business operations and Engineering as he/she executes their role to exceed customer expectations and align with GPI business, cultural, financial and operational objectives.

JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following.

Comply with all Company and department safety policies, procedures and programs. Identify safety short falls and strives to eliminate them.

Provide technical support to assigned Department to optimize performance, increase production efficiency, improve quality, and increase equipment reliability.

Create and use processes for analysis of production and maintenance data to identify problems with processes, equipment, tooling, and personnel. Use technical skills and formal methods to identify root causes and implement solutions, including design changes.

Coordinate communications and efforts with internal and external resources to troubleshoot equipment and to execute repairs, PM’s, and upgrades to equipment and tooling. Participate in planning meetings with Maintenance.

Support efforts of Continuous Improvement group to develop departmental procedures and training programs. Develop specific technical procedures when necessary. Participate in Continuous Improvement efforts and teams.

Support development and implementation of capital improvements, and lead implementation when needed.

Provide expertise and training in the use of operating and troubleshooting processes with Maintenance and Operators, to solve day-to-day issues.

Track and evaluate numerous Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and Operator performance data, identify trends, and recommend courses of action to address needs.

Use SAP and production databases to determine effective maintenance schedules and predictive parts replacement that will improve reliability.

Evaluate layout, flow, and balance of processes. Coordinate process changes and equipment modifications. Measure effectiveness of improvements.

Execute departmental projects to reduce costs, reduce spoilage, and improve performance.

Participate in planning and execution of trials to support accuracy of data and results / conclusions.

Other duties as assigned.

BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:

Prior experience in converting/ packaging industry preferred.

Knowledge in Six-Sigma/Lean/Work Systems is preferred.

Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines

EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:

Four-year degree preferred or;

Compensatory closely related work experience required in lieu of degree.

SCHEDULE DEMANDS:

General schedule is an 8-hour M-F assignment, however, employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so.

Occasional overnight travel to include flying, driving, riding or by rail.
