Senior Network Engineer

IMPORTANT SKILLS

  • Ok to work from home remote most of the week, but needs to be local to Sacramento, CA or close enough to go to the office when needed

  • There is about 20% traveling involved between sites when necessary.
  • Needs to be hands on technical experience
  • Someone who has technical base – big project

  • Hardware refresh (router to SDWAN) need to know how to configure and troubleshooting for all the sites, someone who has automation experience and pipelines will succeed in this role

  • Nice to have – can communicate with their team, with team members and IT groups.
  • Being a team player, not a heads down type of role – needs to have a collaborative personality, excellent communication and written skills
  • Multiple projects so will need to know how to prioritize and be organized running them, very high paced role
JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Organizes, aligns, leads, and evolves hardware development initiatives.

  • Updates and manages tickets through resolution with vendors and internal support groups.
  • Collaborates with DevOps teams, project management, and product management teams to understand and validate hardware and virtual systems requirements.
  • Contributes expertise on multiple project teams comprised of other engineers and internal and outsourced development partners responsible for all stages of development across multiple engineering disciplines for complex products, platforms, systems, software, and technology solutions.
  • Manages and expands relationships with internal and outsourced development partners on engineering design and development.
  • Reviews and evaluates designs and project activities for compliance with technology and development guidelines and standards; provides tangible feedback to improve product quality.
  • Provides domain-specific expertise and overall engineering perspective to cross- organization projects, programs, and activities
  • Implements innovation and integration of new technologies into projects and activities in the engineering design organization.

    • EDUCATION
    • BA/BS or MA/MS in Computer Science or related subject or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Minimum of five (5) years professional experience related to analytical or network system support, or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE

    • Applying appropriate engineering design tools and software packages to design components and solutions.

      • Knowledge of Routing protocols, and network threat detection & remediation.

      • Knowledge of switching and wireless technologies and protocols.

      • Knowledge of next generation firewall systems.

      • Knowledge of automation tools and operating system scripting languages like: BASH, PowerShell, Python, etc.

    • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced, team environment.
    • Detail oriented and accurate.
