Our focus is on improving the health and well-being of all individuals by offering inpatient, outpatient and rural health clinic services to the Glenn County community.Full Time PositionPOSITION SUMMARY:The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) responds to emergency calls to provide efficient and immediate care to the critically ill and injured, and to transport the patient to a medical facility. He/she will also be responsible for a variety of functions in support and care of patients requiring urgent or emergency care in an urgent care or emergency medical setting.POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

High school graduate or equivalent.

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification

One year of experience in a comparable job classification is required.

Current Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for HealthCare Workers or Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Workers

Clean DMV report

Ambulance Driver’s License

Medical Exam Card

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

Driving the ambulance to address or location given, observing traffic ordinances and regulations concerning emergency vehicle operation.

Provide medical support to the patients while they are carried to the hospitals

Assists in lifting and carrying the patient out of the ambulance and into the receiving medical facility

Provides assistance to the receiving medical facility staff such as assisting doctors, nurses and other medical personnel with physical examinations

Reports verbally and in writing, their observation and emergency medical care of the patient in transit, to the receiving medical staff

Monitoring vital signs like blood pressure, pulse and temperature

Collecting blood, urine, saliva and stool samples for laboratory analysis

Cleaning, prepping and suturing wounds; fitting patients for casts, crutches and other devices

Providing instruments to doctors and nurses as they perform procedures on patients

Assisting with the safe movement of patients, such as from hospital bed to wheelchair

Assisting with admitting patients into the ER, scheduling patient transfers, providing discharge instructions and patient education

Maintain a safe and clean environment for patients

Charting changes in patients’ health, scheduling appointments with and providing referrals to specialists

Contacting primary care physicians for past health records

Restocking supplies, removing waste materials, sanitizing hospital rooms and tools

Delivering meals

Transport injured or sick individuals to medical facilities

Cleans and stocks carts, rooms, and changes linen

Assists with transport of patients to other departments

Assist with resuscitation/CPR and emergency airway procedures

Assist with obtaining and documentation of vital signs and placement of oxygen saturation, cardiac monitoring, and non-invasive blood pressure monitoring systems
