We are looking for you to join our team as an Embedded Software Engineer based out of Woodland Hills, CA. As an Embedded Software Engineer at Northrop Grumman you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of our Enterprise-wide digital transformation.

What You’ll get to Do :

Design and build embedded or hardware prototypes to demonstrate new concepts for protecting spacecraft from advanced cyber attacks.

Leverage expertise of embedded architecture and design to perform vulnerability assessments and recommend best practices for government programs of record.

Implement or integrate existing hardened cyber security modules on satellite platforms.

Research and develop novel software or hardware exploitations which may affect space systems.

Proactively interact with customers by presenting project status, technical findings and technical demonstrations.

Keep informed of the latest exploits and offensive measures through research and cyber certification

Qualifications

This requisition may be filled at either the Base Level or a Principal Level.

Basic Qualifications of an Embedded Software Engineer :

2 years of Engineering experience with a Bachelors of Science in a STEM discipline; 0 years of Engineering experience with Masters

Ability to obtain / maintain a DoD Secret Clearance

Software development experience with Embedded Systems, Linux and Windows OS

Excellent working knowledge in C

Experience in embedded software programming

Experience with complex systems-level debugging

Basic Qualifications of a Principal Embedded Software Engineer :

5 years of Engineering experience with a Bachelors of Science in a STEM discipline; 3 years of Engineering experience with Masters, 0 years with a PhD

Ability to obtain / maintain a DoD Secret Clearance

Software development experience with Embedded Systems, Linux and Windows OS

Excellent working knowledge in C

Experience in embedded software programming

Experience with complex systems-level debugging

Preferred Qualifications :

Strong working knowledge of user and kernel mode driver architectures

Experience in shared source development and control

Source control systems usage (Git)

Experience conducting penetration test reverse engineering, fuzz testing, side channel attacks, and permission escalation) or defensive operations attack modeling, intrusion detection, and secure code review).

Experience in cryptographic systems design encryption, authentication, key management) or cryptographic algorithm development.

Familiar with bash, shell, PowerShell, and basic scripting on Linux and Windows platforms.

Familiar with trusted platform design and configuration Arm TrustZone, SELinux, Intel SGX, OP-TEE, Secure Boot, Trusted Platform Module, BIOS / UEFI, etc.)

Experience with Linux kernel and driver development; particularly customizations that enhance security for the system.

Experience using and selecting software assurance tools & countermeasures State-of-the-Art Resources)

Working knowledge with satellite systems.

Experience with RTOS based multi-threaded application and bare metal embedded firmware design and development.

Software Development and / or Software Engineering background with an Agile / DevSecOps mindset and experience with Scripting languages Python, Ruby, JavaScript) and Test Driven Development (TDD)

Active DoD Secret Clearance
