Come be a part of our mission! We are looking for you to join our team as a Thermal Analysis Mechanical Engineer based out of Woodland Hills, CA. As a Thermal Analysis Mechanical Engineer at Northrop Grumman you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of our Enterprise-wide digital transformation. What You'll get to Do:
  • Thermal and structural analysis (FEA) for inertial navigation systems and/or mission computers, including support for existing product lines
  • Produce engineering documentation and technical reports/analyses to support design, integration, and testing efforts
  • Support for root cause analysis and quick resolution of manufacturing line stops and other critical production activities
  • Collaborative work with other engineering organizations, program management, factory operations, global supply chain and Mission Assurance

Qualifications:

This requisition may be filled at either a Principal Level or a Sr. Principal Level. Basic Qualifications for a Principal Thermal Analysis Mechanical Engineer:
  • Candidate must have a strong thermal and structural analysis (FEA) background with demonstrated work experience and knowledge
  • A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Physics and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Physics and 5 years of relevant experience, or a PhD in Mechanical Engineering or Physics and 0 years experience.
  • Experience with Ansys analysis tools
  • Good presentation and writing/communication skills
  • with the ability to obtain Secret clearance
Basic Qualifications for a Sr. Principal Thermal Analysis Mechanical Engineer:
  • Candidate must have a strong thermal and structural analysis (FEA) background with demonstrated work experience and knowledge
  • A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Physics and a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience, a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Physics and 7 years of relevant experience, or a PhD in Mechanical Engineering or Physics and 4 years experience.
  • Experience with Ansys analysis tools
  • Good presentation and writing/communication skills
  • with the ability to obtain Secret clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with COSMOS/M and SolidWorks Simulation for structural and thermal analysis
  • Experience with mechanical CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)
  • High degree of creativity and ability to solve a wide range of difficult problems
  • Self-motivated, willing to learn, experience working in a team environment
  • Candidate should be able to listen effectively, take direction, and possess initiative to accomplish assigned tasks and complete work in a timely fashion
