ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Engineer will be responsible for planning and coordination of both smaller and larger projects.
  • Engineer will be responsible to develop, approve and coordinate work schedules of junior engineers, designers, and drafters on a project to project basis and ensure that objectives of cost, quality and time are met.
  • Engineer will be responsible to conduct upfront site visits, power systems analysis, substation plans, develop electrical equipment lists, drawing lists, manage projects as a lead electrical engineer and coordinate all startup/commissioning/testing activities.
  • Engineer will be responsible for substation protection and control design according to industry standards. Proficient with protective relay and metering one line / three-line diagrams.
  • Engineer will be responsible for developing protective relay settings and calculations, performing coordination studies to determine relay setpoints and create configuration files using AcSELerator and EnerVista software tools.
  • Engineer will have experience with distance relays, line differential relays, transformer differential relays, bus differential relays, breaker failure relays, arc-flash detection relays, feeder protection relays, motor protection relays, generator interconnection relays, and reverse power relays.
  • Engineer will have experience with typical outdoor substation equipment (breakers, switches, instrument transformers etc.), materials and installation clearances associated with high voltage substations.(115/230/345/500 kV)
  • Engineer will have experience with substation grounding design (CDEGS program knowledge a plus)
  • Engineer will be responsible for designing main-tie-main transfer scheme logic for medium-voltage and low-voltage switchgear, and prepared transfer scheme operation narratives, performing CT saturation calculations to verify CT accuracy class.
  • Engineer will be responsible for interaction with the client/utility for coordination design.
  • Engineer will be responsible to resolve major and minor technical issues with design, enforce project standards, and enforce code requirements on project.
  • Engineer will be responsible to provide guidance on design and technical issues with subordinate engineers.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering from an ABET accredited curriculum or equivalent and 10+ years experience.
  • Professional engineering registration is required with ability to obtain in other states. (NCEES records preferred)
