Job Overview:

The Emergency & Cardiopulmonary Services Clinical Resource Coordinator provides operational support to the Director of Emergency & Cardiopulmonary Services, is a care coordinator, change agent and advocate for the practice of Nursing and Respiratory Therapy. This position provides professional care in accordance with known/accepted standards of practice and AVH policy and sets the example for staff to follow. This position identifies expected patient outcomes and interventions to achieve those outcomes, working in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team, including family members.

Primary Scope of Responsibilities:

  • Provides input to the Director on staff Growth and Development Plans; assists with policy and procedure development/review and/or revision; assists with budget preparation; creates purchase and requisitions as requested by the Director; assists with scheduling and time card review; and assists with and facilitates with day to day operations and patient flow; and assists with data collection and analysis, charge review and quality improvement activities in the department. Responsible for assisting Director in supervising staff performance including Nurses, Respiratory Therapists, Patient Care Technicians, Unit Coordinator and Physician Assistants.
  • Partners with the Director to elevate the clinical expertise and practice of the nursing, respiratory, and ancillary staff by promoting efficient and effective clinical practice patterns and critical thinking skills of the nursing, respiratory and support staff.
  • Assists Director with supervising Physician Assistant interviewing, orientation, performance review, schedule, timecards with input from ER physician group.
  • Assists Director to support as liaison to ER physician group and other hospital physicians in resolving patient care issues, practice changes, patient placement concerns, staff conflict and policy/procedure development, revisions and updates.
  • Creates, Implements, and Maintains nursing staff education to provide formal and informal education and serves as a mentor for the staff.
  • Responsible for care outcomes of patients through facilitating, coordinating and overseeing the care provided by the healthcare team in all areas, utilizing evidence based practice (EBP). Communicates and collaborates with other members of the healthcare team.
  • Able to provide nursing care in other areas of the hospital as required based on individual skills and needs of the hospital.
  • Collaborates with medical staff regarding the patient's plan of care by taking an active role in patient care, rounds in other clinical departments to facilitate problem solving, and initiates huddles.
  • Educates staff through mentoring, coaching and clinical huddles.
  • Assists the staff to provide individualized patient and family education consistent with patient's learning style, readiness to learn and self-care needs
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of patient learning and assists the staff with changing methodology, as needed.
  • Adheres reliably to all accepted patient safety standards
  • Identifies and promotes new learning around changing patient safety standards of practice. Serves in advocacy role; encouraging active involvement of patient and family in their care
  • Participates as a clinical leader in clinical quality and patient safety committees.
  • Participates in data collection and analysis and charge review. Utilizes the PDSA approach to process improvement in the organization. Acts as a role model for performance improvement.
  • Acts as the professional leader in role awareness, and practices within scope, professional expectations and continuous learning in nursing & respiratory therapy practices
  • Takes initiative for professional goals, role development and diversity of responsibilities within nursing & respiratory therapy practice with guidance; consistent with hospital mission and strategic plan.
  • Able to express nursing & respiratory therapy values around patient/family centered care with assistance as needed/appropriate
  • Acts as an educator to others using appropriate teaching principles and strategies as well as current information, materials and technologies.
  • Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for own professional decision making
  • Contributes to planning unit meetings and activities and actively participates in departmental meetings
  • Assists other clinical staff to solve problems on the unit
  • Responsible for assisting in identifying learning needs and communication to all staff.
  • Assists in maintaining positive employee relations, and safe and efficient nursing care while remaining budget focused. Demonstrates a commitment to a healthy work environment focused on professionalism and excellence. Works collaboratively with other nursing leadership to facilitate nursing reassignment and utilization of flex nurses where needed.
  • Completion of all competencies on home unit. Completion of competencies for additional areas in the hospital based on individual skills and needs of other Patient services departments.
  • Fully competent in the primary role on unit; performs patient and family assessment and problem identification, plans care accordingly; implements and evaluates plan of care so that problems are resolved.
  • Maintain competency in the care of the medical surgical patient with emphasis on orthopedic and general surgeries.
  • Maintain competency in the care of the pediatric patient.
  • Maintain competency in the care of the patient requiring telemetry monitoring.

Minimum Qualifications & Requirements:

  • 5 years of Nursing Experience or Cardiopulmonary Experience
  • 2 years of Emergency Services Experience
  • Registered Nurse Requirements:
    • Associate Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred
    • Current Colorado nursing license
  • Respiratory Therapist Requirements:
    • Registered Respiratory Therapist
  • Current BLS certification
  • Other Required: ACLS, PALS, TNCC
  • CEN preferred
  • Minimum of 10 CEU's annually

Hire-in rates of pay are based upon the relevance of years of experience, education and certifications. Our talent acquisition team will help you understand how your direct experience will be considered.

Pay range for new hires: $43.14 - $56.12/hr
