Description

JOB DESCRIPTION: SA IC seeks an experienced principal level Communications and Network Systems Engineer to provide technical advisory support to the US Air Force Space Systems Command. SSC acquires Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) and Weather space systems to support military and intelligence community users. The successful candidate will support technical communications systems solutions to provide a secure application development enclave. Extensive network and communications experience with systems engineering and systems development/test/integration is required and is required and knowledge of major US Government satellite programs is highly desired.

Apply communications engineering expertise to analyze system architectural needs to:
  • - Assist and advise on the engineering, design, integration and delivery of government and/or commercially provided communications services in support of program voice, video and data requirements.
  • - Work with government communications service providers (DISA, Classified Host, AFSPC Networks) and commercial service providers (Lumen, AT&T, Amazon) for ordering and delivery of services, understanding of their technology roadmaps, and management of program Service Level Agreements.
  • - Assess communications systems and the relationship with Information Assurance, Cryptographic Systems, Data Processing, Storage Systems, Voice and Video systems, and Cloud Services.
  • - Responsible for Data Center Management including but not limited documentation, Configuration Management, physical layout and safety considerations.
  • - Maintains external connections and WAN circuits and will need to understand in-depth interconnect diagrams for both internal and external communications.
  • - Coordinates and liaises with tenants and vendor receiving organizational services and/or communications constructs for their own purposes.
  • - De-conflict and baseline standards and processes within scope of authority to ensure cohesion across various technology and enclave maintainers.
  • - Coordinate and control physical access to communications equipment and manage relevant meetings to include Engineer Review Boards, IT Working Groups, and Site Surveys.
  • - Report to the government customer on status, major iterative changes and outages. Coordinate and supervise lessons learned activities and generate after action reports.
  • - Candidate should be fluent with WAN communications, LAN implementations and troubleshooting and Data Center Communications constructs.
  • - Critical skills include architecture and design, requirements generation, technical solution development, integration, plan validation and supervision, professional communications.
  • - Candidate must be highly security focused and assist Cyber Security team with producing and reviewing relevant communications package artifacts.
  • - Excellent interpersonal skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills are mandatory.
  • - Be forward looking, mission and customer focused and have a bias for action.
  • - Work proactively, independently as well as a member of a highly effective technical team while developing approaches to solutions.

PhD or JD and four (4) years or more experienc e • JNCIA or CCNA or other Associate Level network certification • Security+ or other associate level security certification • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or IT Systems, or years of experience in lieu of. • Strong systems engineering background with technical expertise in communication theory, network protocols, and network management • 10 years network/comm systems engineering experience with emphasis on communications and network systems • Demonstrable virtualization experience (SD-WAN, Containerization, VMs) • Knowledge of modern network design constructs (e.g., IP Fabric Overlay and Underlay, eVPN, Spine and Leaf Topology) and network protocols and stacks (e.g., TCP/IP, UDP, BGP, MPLS, VPN, IPSec). • First hand experience with Juniper product lines for Layer 2 and Layer 3 as well as security. Fluency in JunOS, understanding of how TAC cases work and the product and software lifecycle for Juniper. • Experience with DoD Risk Management Framework requirements and package/artifact generation Practical knowledge of Transport, WAN, and LAN techn ologies • Experience with government and commercial service providers • Knowledge of Information Assurance, Cyber technologies, and Security/Encryption systems for classified networks ranging from Unclassified to TS/SCI • Experience with advanced security and RMF tools (Solar Winds, ELK, OpenRMF, Vulnerator) • Experience with Agile leadership and project management methodologies • JNCP or CCNP or equivalent Certified Systems Engineering Professional • Experience with OPIR sensors data feeds

Target salary range: $125,001 - $150,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
