This position applies established techniques, procedures, practices, and methods directly related to mixing clay; glazing work; maintenance on various equipment rooms, including the Plaster Room; maintenance on various equipment, including kilns; ordering materials; stocking materials; repair and paint walls; and cleaning. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be Material Maintenance DutiesOrder for studio/area needs for all classes and studios.

Work in conjunction with the area coordinator for Ceramics regarding the day to day operation as well as the ordering of materials and supplies needed for all courses and student projects.

Stock and refill glaze materials on bin, drawer, jar.

Mix shop glazes as needed.

Clay making and supervising students to make clay as needed.

Kiln Maintenance DutiesRepair existing kiln equipment, order replacement parts, and collaborate with the area coordinator to order new materials and equipment.

Supervise kiln equipment, kiln furniture, electric kiln part, grinding shelves, and organize kiln shelves, bricks and posts, etc.

Supervise student’s firing as needed.

Maintenance in GeneralManage all studios and classroom spaces by keeping them clean, organized, stocked, and well maintained.

Clean, maintain and organize classrooms and facility in general.

What You Should Know

This is a limited term, 1% appointment. General knowledge in Sculpture.

What You Will Need

Skill, knowledge and experience of kilns (electric, gas, salt and soda kilns).

Knowledge of glaze and clay materials in general.

Woodworking skills.

What We Would Like You To Have

2+ years of professional experience in Ceramics.

General knowledge in Sculpture.
