EOL's mission is to provide leadership in observing facilities,field project support as well as research and data services needed to advancethe scientific understanding of the Earth system. EOL manages the majority ofNSF's Lower Atmosphere Observing Facilities (LAOF) and deploys them insupport of observational field campaigns, ranging from single investigatorprojects to large complex campaigns that involve multiple investigators,agencies, and platforms, nationally and internationally. EOL deploys itssystems for research by scientists from universities, NCAR, and governmentagencies, as well as for education. An integral part of EOL's mission isto develop the next generation of LAOF and to provide management and archivingof data from past supported campaigns. In order to ensure progress in theatmospheric sciences, EOL supports a wide-range of research areas within theEarth system science, ranging from microscale to mesoscale to climateprocess studies, and employs LAOF platforms and systems that reach from thesurface of the Earth to the lower stratosphere and beyond.EOL's mission is to serve the observational needs of the atmosphericscience community by developing and deploying state-of-the-art radar and lidarinstrumentation. RSF is committed to providing and analyzing cross-cuttingmeasurements in interdisciplinary research thereby continuing EOL'sleadership in the discipline of remote sensing. The combination ofground-based scanning and airborne remote sensors provides measurements ofatmospheric parameters essential for realization of the societal andscientific benefits outlined in the EOL Strategic Plan. Thesehigh-resolution, large-domain, remotely-sensed observations of clear airand precipitation are otherwise unobtainable.For more information on EOL please see the page.What You Will Do:Generalize application software that tracks hurricane location and structure.Work with Earth Observing Laboratory (EOL) software engineers andscientists to modify existing scientific software.Responsibilities:Work with scientists and software engineers to generalize code that providesreal-time information about hurricane location and structure from radar data.Utilize web-based version control repository. Utilize existing Make files andPython scripts to build application. Write automated unit and functionaltests. Build and test Linux and MacOS versions of software application. Writescripts to continuously integrate software changes, run tests, and sendnotification of results.
