St. Paul's United Methodist Church is seeking a year-round part-time Administrative Assistant (AA). We are a close-knit community church in Boulder's Table Mesa neighborhood dedicated to loving God, creating hope, and changing lives. Our AA is an essential member of our church family. The AA is the office manager and information center of the church, assisting the pastor and church community, answering calls and e-mail, greeting visitors, managing schedules, with sensitivity, compassion, confidentiality and, professionalism. The working hours are 9:00-1:00 weekdays with some flexibility. With occasional extra hours for meetings and special events, the AA can expect approximately 80-90 hours per month.

Responsibilities:

Handle typical office functions: pleasantly greet visitors, answer phones, message appropriate staff and volunteers with follow-up, conscientiously distribute mail, screen and disseminate information to the proper persons or volunteers with appropriate follow-up or make agency referrals.

Create, edit, record and publish the weekly worship bulletin, monthly newsletter, and other church publications and mailings.

Maintain calendar for programs and building use

Update church website.

Maintain church records

Record bi-monthly church council meeting minutes.

Maintain member/constituent contact information.

Assist the pastor with special services/events/presentations, scheduling, gatekeeping calls and visitors, coordinating volunteer support, writing reports and letters.

Maintain a clean and orderly office environment; keep office equipment in working order; order supplies, set up vendor accounts as needed, submit bills, maintain good rapport with vendors.

Administer benevolence on behalf of the church through the Food Pantry and/or PATH Fund.

Skills and Qualifications:

A minimum of a high school diploma and 3-5 years clerical experience.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and Publisher.

Ability to update website (from drag-and-drop template; no html coding skills are needed) and social media.

Excellent interpersonal skills - being sensitive to people, empathetic, and able to be discreet with confidential information.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Attention to detail is critical.

Desirable:

Experience working in a church environment, both with people and with communications needs.

A comfortable familiarity with Christian teachings, scriptures and church calendar (seasons, sacraments, liturgy, etc.).
