Job Title: Carpenter

Grows to: Lead Carpenter / Project Manager

Part Time, $18-$30 (depending on experience) per hour to start, 1099 position

Carpenter is directly responsible for completing multiple assigned renovation projects and tasks on time and under budget. Must have substantial carpentry skills focused on residential renovations including kitchen remodeling, basement finishing, framing, and trim work. Good communication skills are required to manage customer expectations, subcontractor relationships, and ensure smooth progression of workflow. Responsible for managing work methods and production, sticking to the schedule, entering information into our software, and driving results relative to your assigned tasks. Organization is a must. Must be able to multi-task and juggle simultaneous priorities.

75% Build our projects. Start them up, move them along, and close them out. Frame, trim, hang cabinets, do whatever is in the project scope to complete the work as drawn and planned. Fill in the gaps with your experience and abilities. Keep the work moving, report progress to your manager, work punch lists and finalize the projects.

10% Monitor the Subs: Help schedule, direct, and closely monitor the progress of the subcontractors. If they are off track, off budget, or taking too long, you let everyone know.

5% Quoting and Paperwork: Assist with estimates and emails, calling, emailing, texting our subcontractors, customers, and the office to keep things on track. Help support sales efforts for future projects.

5% Customer Relationship Building: Talk with the customers every day. Make sure they are happy with what they are getting. Communicate our schedule. Help them understand the limitations of what we are doing for them and ensure they know what to expect. Help them make the changes they request, make sure they understand the costs to make those changes. Make sure change orders and corresponding costs are produced, signed, and collected.

5% varies: Complete needed tasks as requested.

Must be a reliable, trustworthy, self-starter that is motivated to take charge and get things done. Must have reliable transportation, full complement of tools, comprehensive home renovation knowledge and experience. Must have excellent communications skills. Must have (or be willing to get) insurance. Should have general business/office knowledge and experience. Must be comfortable working in a totally disorganized environment and converting that chaos into organized workflow. Work is fast paced and we move from project to project very quickly.
