This position is based in Broomfield, CO, and is responsible for supporting, implementing and maintaining health, safety and environmental programs for our R&D organization locations in Broomfield and in Golden Valley, MN, designed to assure compliance with Honeywell standards and federal, state, and local regulatory requirements to ensure the protection of our employees, assets and the community at large. This position will be approximately 80% safety and health and 20% environmental. This role reports directly to the ACST Director of Operations and to the Honeywell Corporate HS&E organization. Key Responsibilities: Develop, deploy and continuously improve a Health, Safety and Environment Manage System based on Honeywell’s HSEPS framework and requirements Provide technical expertise for a variety of HSE Programs and operational controls in an R&D and office environment Demonstrate safety engineering experience and project management skills to support as a team member or team lead; Solve HSE problems (root cause analysis) and develop action plans Lead audit teams, investigations, risk assessments and special projects where HSE expertise is needed Provide guidance and expertise to operations on root cause investigations for HSE incidents and drive corrective action closure; Develop, maintain and provide both classroom and OJT HSE training Develop R&D-specific HSE criteria and support operations with implementation of HSE programs Interpret new and existing regulations and drive actions to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies (federal, state, county, local) and conformance to Honeywell requirements Help develop and maintain safety programs such as laboratory safety, ergonomics, incident investigations, contractor safety, and new hire orientation Develop/enhance and support sustainable metrics and systems for broad employee involvement (HSE committee, risk assessments, safety observations process, safe work permit processes) Prepare and present reports on relevant accident trends and incident reduction initiatives YOU MUST HAVE: Bachelor of Science degree Minimum 2+ years directly related experience in Health, Safety and Environmental practice in a manufacturing environment with safety program responsibilities Must be a US Citizen and currently have or be able to obtain a government security clearanceWE VALUE: Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or health, safety, environmental, industrial hygiene or a related technical discipline Basic knowledge of lockout/tagout, machine guarding, working at heights, personal protective equipment and other safety programs required Good verbal and written communication skills at multiple levels Ability to think strategically and simplify complex issues Prefer experience with VPP, Performance Track, ISO 14001 and/or OHSAS 18001 or other HSE management systems Sustained HSE experience in an R&D environment Specialized training and certifications in Laser Safety, cryogenic systems, compressed gases, gas detection, human factors impact on safety culture, basic first aid, and material handling An active security clearanceHoneywell is an equal opportunity employer.
