Parsons is looking for a sharp Cloud System Engineer to join our growing Space and Geospatial Solutions Team. This Cloud System Engineer will directly support the US Space Force’s Space and Missile Center (SMC) Enterprise Ground Service (EGS) SATOPS, Prototyping, and Integration (SPI) program and its goal to deploy a universal Command and Control (C2) architecture aimed at eliminating restrictions by continuously delivering enterprise tactical C2 services and applications that, when integrated with mission partner unique services and applications through the use of system engineering principles, will fully enable today’s modern warfighter. This role will align under the EGS Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) Operations Support as outlined below:
- Will need to provide effective and efficient system support of the cloud environment
- Work closely with system/software designers, operators, cybersecurity, and engineering to keep the cloud environment secure and reliable
- Coordinate the operational aspects of operations testing and training on the cloud environments
- Implement, sustain, and maintain the cloud environment based on requirements/specifications, customer expectations, and cybersecurity requirements
- Helps maintain the daily care-and-feeding of the cloud environments to include cost control, patches, and user access
- Support of SPI customers – internally and externally.
- Develop and automate Amazon AWS based topologies and processes
- Create best practices for cloud operations and be consultative to project teams throughout duration of a project.
- Perform system administration functions to include configuration, housekeeping, and archival of files.
- Master application, technology, and cloud operations.
- Maintain a cloud and security mindset throughout the life cycle of the solution.
- Manage support agreements and conduct all required system maintenance.
- Support the planning and execution of agile test activities to include managing the integration of capabilities that are developed by other contractors using continuous development and integration practices.
- Research areas of improvements and design/implement enhancements working with the Cloud DevOps and Product Development teams.
- Monitor AWS resource utilization and provide reports and notifications on potential limits.
- Monitor application runtimes and key business processes.
- Ability to develop and implement serverless cloud application infrastructure solutions.
- Maintain configuration management and service delivery and help in capturing time and material data for efficiency analysis.
- Perform system/database backups and take VM snapshots as required.
- Properly shutdown, startup, and restore the system as required.
- Support configuration audit activities.
- Install vendor and system patches as required to maintain necessary compliance and system security requirements.
- Ability to obtain a DoD Secret and clearable to TS/SCI
- 8+ years of relevant experience with a BS. Additional years of experience can be counted towards a degree.
- Experience with designs consuming cloud services/technologies, specifically on AWS (EC2, EBS, ELB, KMS, IAM, STS, CloudWatch, S3, VPC, security groups).
- Extensive experience as operator of production environments in large application deployments.
- Strong analytical skills and broad product knowledge.
- Experience on server platforms specifically Windows 2012/2016 and Linux/Red Hat flavors is required.
- Extensive experience with OS security involving Active Directory, Windows networking, Group policies, DNS, PKI & Certificates, LDAP, NACL, STIG.
- Experience writing Python, Windows PowerShell, BASH, or Perl scripts.
- Experience with performance monitoring and scalability factors in information systems.
- Good grasp of concepts like distributed systems, multi-tenant systems, network protocols, network security, SSL, PKI, routing, and load balancing.
- Understanding of operational concepts like change management, on call rotations, escalations, uptime, etc.
- Experience with VMWare and Azure.
- Experience automating enterprise class applications or cloud topologies.
- Experience implementing controls from NIST 800-53, FedRAMP, ICD 503, RMF, DoD ILs.
- Experience working cloud solution development with Azure or AWS architectures
- Experience working within a SAFe project/program
