Primary Responsibilities Include:
  • Design and liaison of aircraft primary and secondary structure utilizing military and commercial design standards, customer specifications and system requirements documents utilizing 3-dimensional CAD.
  • Provide liaison to production and manufacturing for interpretation of engineering design/drawings.
  • Coordinate activities to evaluate and resolve engineering related production problems encountered in aircraft manufacturing and modification facilities.
  • Review production schedules, engineering specifications, orders, and related information to maintain current knowledge of manufacturing methods, procedures, and activities.
  • Perform activities in a variety of cross-functional areas including production planning, production control, product assurance, systems, manufacturing, equipment and facilities engineering, material management, and process reengineering.
  • Confer with product assurance, planning, manufacturing, operations, and other department personnel to provide technical support and to facilitate the correction of errors on drawings and documents identified during manufacturing operations.
  • Investigate reports of defective, damaged, or malfunctioning parts, assemblies, equipment, or systems to determine nature and scope of problem.
  • Examine, measure, inspect, or test defective parts in support of QC/QA for conformance to engineering design drawings or specifications using precision measuring and testing instruments, devices, and equipment.
  • Evaluate findings to formulate corrective action plan and coordinate implementation of plan.
  • Maintain records or oversee recording of information by others to ensure engineering drawings and documents are current and that engineering-related production problems and resolutions are documented.
  • Serve as a member of Material Review Board to determine disposition of defective or damaged parts.
  • Generate and disposition aircraft modification structural or mechanical systems non-conformities which include the repair/corrective action instructions and supporting analysis
  • Perform basic structural analysis as required to substantiate a repair or corrective action
  • Redline and revise engineering drawings to incorporate necessary improvements or fixes

Must-haves:
  • Bachelor's of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline and typically 6 or more years of relevant experience
  • Practical knowledge of engineering principles and practices
  • Experience with Computer Aided Engineering tools
  • Familiarity working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams
  • Must have prior experience with aircraft primary or secondary structure, composite structures or avionics installation design.
  • Generally experienced in one or more areas of manufacturing operations.
  • Knowledge of mechanical design and documentation standards.
  • Must have the ability to motivate others; sound effective listening skills; pays attention to details; ability to work under pressure; and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Previous experience and skills in project definition, simulation, implementation, lab integration and test
  • Classical calculation methods for structural analysis
  • Creation of 3D CAD models and engineering drawings in accordance with ASME standards (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Knowledge of aviation or aerospace industry standard fabrication and assembly practices
  • Ability to travel occasionally required

Compliance Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for thoughtful adherence to all SNC Policies, Procedures, and Compliance regulations (internal and external)
  • Responsible for timely execution of all personnel-related activities such as Time Sheet completion, Performance Evaluations, Salary Reviews, Succession Planning, etc.
  • Responsible for leadership oversight and for ensuring Department/Team training

Essential Functions :
  • Minimum physical requirements to perform all duties and responsibilities, as defined by management

Preferred:
  • Material Review Board experience preferred
  • Experience with military specs and standards
  • Experience interfacing with a military customer
  • An active SECRET security clearance is a plus

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $80,454.29 - $110,624.65
