Position Title: Space Mission Analyst SME (L4) SWAC

Work Location: Colorado Springs CO

Job Summary: Galapagos Federal Systems, LLC is looking to immediately fill the Space Mission Analyst SME (L4) position. The mission of the SWAC is to conduct analysis, modeling, war gaming and experimentation to create operational concepts and Force Design Guidance for the USSF. SWAC Force Design identifies the integrated suite of capabilities that fulfills USSF imperatives to preserve the United States' freedom of actions in space; enable Joint Force lethality and effectiveness; and provide independent options in, from, and to space. SWAC analysis and products support USSF decision making processes for resourcing, policy development, and operational planning. The SWAC's Force Design Integration Office (FDIO) is responsible for creating the integrated Force Design and associated products. A successful Force Design requires a technical depth and breadth of all space capabilities at multiple classification levels, an understanding of industry capabilities and best practices, remaining tied to the Science and Technology (S&T) community, and being capable of translating USSF capabilities into the Joint context to allow for Joint integration.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Not listed in order of importance; other duties may be assigned) and must be able to perform the following with minimal guidance:

  • Align Force Design(s) with National strategy, Joint concepts, and leadership intent
  • Capture and maintain USSF Design drivers; support Joint assessments and concept development activities (as required)
  • Support Joint Campaign scenario development & communicate with USSF organizations
  • Capture and communicate USSF Force Design dependencies and opportunities with Joint, IC, industry, allies, OGAs and other partners
  • Ensure integration across Capability Area Designs (e.g., conduct gap analysis, highlight critical dependencies etc.)
  • Support capability development activities
  • Prioritize Science and Technology (S&T) needs; advocate for SWAC's needs within USSF corporate process
  • Capture, prioritize and advocate for SWAC's policy and partnership recommendations within the USSF corporate process
  • Recommend investment priorities
  • Recommend, document, and maintain Force Design key performance parameters and provide recommendations on enterprise requirements
  • Plan and execute Force Design integration forums
  • Support innovative ways to employ new space capabilities in support of the joint warfighting community; garner insights and identify shortfalls from complex analyses across the space enterprise. Incorporate modeling and simulation results and provide recommendations on potential improvements to current and future systems.

Primary Products

  • Develop the Chief of Space Operations' strategic-level Force Design guidance document(s)
  • Develop integrated Force Design products leveraging Capability Area Designs and external dependencies/opportunities
  • Document Force Design decisions
  • Develop annual Force Design schedule and align with key milestones
  • Produce quick-turn senior leader products to communicate the Force Design
  • Create visual/graphic depictions of Force Design content

Education and/or Experience/Skills Required:

  • Master of Arts/Master of Science/Master of Engineering (MA/MS/ME) degree and a minimum of 20 years' of relevant DoD work experience
  • 10+ years' experience in a SAP and/or SCI environment with the last five (5) years
  • Recognized industry leader with strong analytical skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent organizational and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to be innovative and creative and capable of conveying complex information in a simplistic manner.
  • Ability to work autonomously and interface easily with team members and senior leadership.
  • Aerospace/industry strategy experience.
  • Engineering experience
  • Systems of systems analysis experience
  • Joint experience, lead SPO Material Leader or Operational Officer at COCOM/Joint Staff levels
  • Ability to operate independently at GO/FO - O-6 level, while concurrently lead at O5 and below level.
  • Must be able to transform complicated projects into high level briefings.
  • Primary place of performance in Colorado Springs, CO with a secondary place of performance in the National Capital Region

Physical Requirements: Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Position may require typing and reading from a computer screen. Must have enough mobility, including but not limited to bending, reaching, and kneeling to complete daily duties in a timely and efficient manner. May include lifting weigh up to thirty (30) pounds as necessary.

Security Clearance: DoD active security clearance may be required at a high-level security. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
