Overview
The Staff Accountant assists the Controller with all aspects of accounting activities.
Responsibilities
The role of Staff Accountant is responsible for the accounting activities and to follow established accounting processes. The Staff Accountant assists with billing and accounts receivable, accounts payable, detailed reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts, and financial reporting processes. The Staff Accountant also ensures that the company's accounting procedures conform to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
The Staff Accountant is responsible for the following activities:
Follow established accounting practices
Prepare monthly journal entries - having detailed backup for all entries
Perform and maintain detailed reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts
Assist with the preparation of financial outlooks and financial forecasts
Assist company financial planning and budget management functions
Assist CPA audits and reviews, as appropriate
Maintain and provide detailed explanations of all transactions
Assist with general office administration duties
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems
Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections
Working knowledge of short- and long-term budgeting and forecasting, and rolling budgets
Excellent interpersonal interaction
Ability to provide accurate written summaries, including quantitative reports
Ability to motivate work groups to produce quality deliverables within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage multiple requirements
Ability to participate in and lead work groups, including outside of the hierarchical control alignment
Bachelor's in Finance or Accounting required
