Job Title: Chile Roast Lead

Location: El Colorado Lodge, Manitou Springs, Colorado

Job Type: Seasonal

Work Period: Tentative start date of Friday, July 19th, 2024 through the end of September/early October

Work Schedule: Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday & Tuesday; 10 AM – 6 PM

Job Description: We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Chile Roast Lead to spearhead our chile roasting operations at the El Colorado produce stand. The ideal candidate will have a passion for local agriculture, a strong understanding of Colorado chile varieties, and excellent customer service skills. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to grow your hospitality experience and skillset. You will be responsible for managing the chile roasting & cold smoke processes, ensuring high-quality roasted/smoked chiles along with other produce options, while providing a memorable experience for our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee the daily operations of the produce stand and roasting & cold smoke stations, including setup and breakdown.

Roast & smoke chiles and fresh produce to perfection using our state-of-the art roasting equipment.

Maintain a clean and organized roasting area, adhering to all health and safety regulations.

Manage inventory of chiles and roasting supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels.

Perform heavy lifting of produce stock, including moving large quantities of produce and other supplies.

Provide exceptional customer service, including answering questions about our produce and chile varieties along with the roasting process.

Handle cash transactions and maintain accurate sales records.

Collaborate with El Colorado staff to enhance the overall produce stand experience.

Qualifications:

Previous experience in hospitality, grocery retail, and chile roasting or a related field.

Strong knowledge or willing to learn the different chile varieties and roasting techniques.

Excellent customer service and communication skills.

Ability to work in a fast-paced, outdoor environment.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.

Basic math skills for handling cash transactions.

Passion for local agriculture and community engagement.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working in a farmer's market or similar setting.

Compensation:

$17 per hour

Opportunities for bonuses based on sales performance.
