GIS Analyst Job Summary:

This position will be responsible for providing GIS support to a team of engineers, geologists, scientists and regulatory specialists involved in permitting injection/disposal wells. At a fast paced small-company environment with a diverse nation-wide client base, analyst will be responsible for creating, organizing, modifying, and analyzing geospatial data as well as mapping of client and publicly available data. The GIS Analyst will perform data collection, conversion, manipulation and analysis and of multiple large data sets utilizing MS Access, MS Excel, and other tools. Other responsibilities include preparing, printing and distributing maps, cross sections and wellbore schematics for various team members. Salary and benefits depend on experience and qualifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide mapping support in the form of paper or digital maps to geologists, scientists and engineers.

Imports, creates, reformats and/or processes data to produce spatial data for distribution into GIS or hard/digital copy maps for various projects. Data sources could be internal and/or external vendors.

Perform GIS analysis, GIS Mapping, and spatial database management.

Utilizing various software packages and information from various sources (AutoCAD, MS Access databases, MS Excel spreadsheets and documents such as deeds, field notes, etc.) to create GIS maps to support project as well as for report deliverables.

GIS metadata creation.

Create and edit wellbore diagrams.

Raster and vector geo-referencing.

Editing of geodatabases and shapefiles.

Digitization of hard copy maps.

Skills and Experience:

College degree in GIS, geography, environmental science, or closely-related natural science field. Minimum of 2 years experience working in the ArcGIS desktop environment is required (ArcGIS Desktop 10.0 or higher a plus).

Experience with software packages such as ArcGIS Pro, AutoCAD, Illustrator, Petra and/or Surfer highly preferred.

Proficiency in computer applications including Word, Excel, Power Point, Access and Outlook required.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Ability to think and act independently and develop creative, analytical solutions to resolve complex problems.

Basic scripting using Python/Visual Basic (not required) but a plus.

GIS experience in an E&P company or working with well data set preferred.
