Title: Data ArchitectLocation: Denver, COType: Direct PlacementOverview of the roleYou will play a key role in Distribution & Corporate Technology (DCT) working with DCT, Tech Delivery and Core Platform product and project teams as we migrate from legacy data warehouses to our strategic Azure data platform.Duties and responsibilities:You will:
- DCT Data Producers steer Product Master, Client Master, Finance, HR and Corporate teams as they implement DCT owned datasets into the global dimensional database in Databricks, build reporting / analytics datasets in Snowflake, review and refine their logical and physical data models and ensure that the API endpoints support the requirements of all consumers
- DCT Data Consumers - work with all consumers of DCT owned data to help them consumer from APIs / data lake as appropriate
- DCT Reporting Consumers - working with all reporting consumers of DCT data to help them consume from APIs, BI Reporting tools and/or data lake as appropriate
- Charles River SaaS migration (OMST) - represent the data architecture needs of Distribution & Corporate Technology working with Tech Delivery teams to help them understand current state and ensure that target state addresses known shortfalls with the current solutions
- Data Architecture - engage with core Data Architecture team to help align DCT activities with data architecture principles and patterns and contribute to the evolution of these based on practical experience
- Core - engage with the Core Cloud Platform and Dev Ops / API development teams to help align DCT activities with strategic technology choices, patterns and practices
- EDM - engage with Enterprise Data Management to ensure that that DCT activities align with data governance objectives and that project and product teams are supporting required cataloguing and glossary preparation activities as an enabler to on-going data quality management
- Information Security ensure that DCT teams engage with Information Security to ensure appropriate data access and permissions are defined
- Documentation maintain a Confluence site providing how-to guides and signposts to other data architecture / data design resources
- DCT Design Forum co-chair a fortnightly review meeting with the DCT Solution Architect to review design proposals and implementations integrating with the EARB as required
- Proven experience in architecting and implementing Business Intelligence and data warehouse platforms, Master Data Management, data integration and OLTP database solutions
- Possess in-depth knowledge of and able to consult on various technologies
- Strong knowledge of industry best practices around data architecture in both cloud based and on prem solutions. Strong analytical and numerical skills are essential, enabling easy interpretation and analysis of large volumes of data
- A comprehensive understanding of the principles of and best practices behind data engineering, and the supporting technologies such as RDBMS, NoSQL, Cache & In-memory stores
- Experience of architecting data solutions across hybrid (cloud, on premise) data platforms
- A comprehensive understanding of data warehousing and data transformation (extract, transform and load) processes and the supporting technologies such as Azure Data Factory, Data Lake and other analytics products
- Experience implementing data solutions
- Excellent problem solving and data modelling skills including entity relationship analysis, normalisation and OLAP / OLTP principles
- Experience of using an enterprise data modelling tool such as ER/Studio
- Experience of mapping key Enterprise data entities to business capabilities and applications
- A strong knowledge of horizontal data lineage from source to output and a good appreciation of the role of data governance in successful implementations
- Experience in systems which integrate with a data lake following a hub and spoke model using API, messaging and batch ETL technologies
- In depth experience working in a scaled agile environment
- Some experience in Asset Management, Wealth Management or Investment Banking is preferred
