Job Description

We are looking for a

Sr.

Manager of SEC and Corporate Accounting who will work at our corporate headquarters located in the

heart of the Denver Tech Center in

Denver, CO!

You will report directly to the Sr. Director of Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting within the technical accounting and external reporting functions for the company. Primary responsibilities include ensuring the company’s compliance with accounting principles generally accepted in the United States, or GAAP, and the preparation, review and delivery of timely and accurate internal and external reporting documents. This individual will collaborate with a large team of accounting, finance and operational professionals, will help ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality reporting and analysis, and will help provide exceptional service to the department’s internal and external stakeholders.

A bit more about what you’ll do…

  • Analysis and application of GAAP to complex real estate business transactions.
  • Preparation of accounting memoranda’s related to new contracts, acquisitions, new accounting guidance, etc.
  • Implementation of new or revised accounting pronouncements.
  • Assistance with the design and monitoring of business processes related to technical accounting to ensure compliance with Sarbanes Oxley.
  • Support of annual audit and quarterly reviews conducted by an external accounting firm to ensure timely and efficient fulfillment of all requests.
  • Identification and leadership of projects that support the organization’s business needs and continuous improvement to the organization’s accounting and reporting processes.
  • Preparation or review of Cash Flow and Flux analysis.
  • Formulating and implementing best practices surrounding standardized accounting policies.
  • Manage the preparation and review of all financial SEC filing requirements (10-K, 10-Q, 11-K, 8-K, etc.) in accordance with SEC rules and regulations.
  • Collaborate on the preparation and review of supplemental information included in quarterly earnings releases.
  • Coordination of internal management reviews of documents to ensure that all feedback is assimilated into submitted documents and disclosures.
  • Adherence to internal and external review and filing deadlines, including tracking and communication of status.
  • Utilization of Active Disclosure, a cloud-based reporting solution, to complete filings with the SEC.
  • Assist with drafting responses to SEC comment letters and working with reporting team, external auditors and securities counsel to finalize responses.
  • Ability to analyze and understand complex transactions, apply complex accounting standards to those transactions, and effectively communicate the results to the stakeholders.
  • Propensity towards detail-orientation in all aspects of work performance and a meticulous business writer.
  • Experience coordinating and completing detailed analytical review procedures over complex information.
  • Keen ability to build and maintain collaborative working relationships with internal and external business partners, including oversight of a small team of external reporting professionals and accountants.
  • Proven background of strategically implementing best practices around reporting and technical accounting processes.
  • Overseeing certain accounting and financial analyses in one or more financial areas including auditing, and general accounting.
  • Applying advanced accounting concepts, theories and principals to develop solutions to problems. Adhering to FASB guidelines and GAAP, company policies and procedures and other regulations in the performance of duties.
  • Setting department and staff goals based on overall department or company goals.
  • Supervising assigned staff including hiring, training, overseeing and reviewing performance, promoting and terminating or reassigning.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting andhold a CPA.
  • 6+ years of experience with complex accounting including SEC reporting and GAAP.
  • Proven success with managing a team of finance professionals through ambiguity while still driving results.
  • Prior experiencing working in Real Estate or Public Accounting (Big 4) industries is highly preferred.
  • Confident communicatorwith the level of maturity and presence necessary to influence senior executives and business leaders.
  • Thrives on driving innovation and change that will propel the business forward.
  • Consistently practices strategic thinking and nimble problem-solving tactics to stay ahead of business priorities.
