Art Restoration firm seeking a full-time Art Restoration Assistant for Evaluation of Art and Art Handling position. Applicant must be sensitive to the needs of art while being proactive in applying current approved methods of packing, handling, manipulation, and inventory control techniques.
Requirements:
Ability to work as a self-starter independently and as a team
Must be detail-oriented
Comfortable under pressure
Able to respond positively to dynamic changes and evolving projects
Strong organizational and planning skills
Time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
Proficiency in MS Office, especially MS Excel
Knowledge of cataloging/inventory practices and procedures
Picture Framing experience helpful
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure the safe and timely preparation of works of art for evaluation, treatment, storage, and transportation by:
Assisting in the framing and unframing of two-dimensional and three-dimensional works of art in order to create proper evaluation and condition reports
Packing /unpacking works of art in house and off site
Skills must include ability to separate various types of artwork from the frame in preparation for treatment and the reassembly of finished items when treatment is completed
Define & describe condition and different types art media and descriptions of frames used
