JOB SCOPE

The Systems Engineer IV will be responsible for the maintenance and development of Automation and Data Analysis code and compute environments within Access Network Operations. Leads implementation of approved architecture and designs. Leader in staff development efforts.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Create and manage systems, tools, and automation, for Access Network Operations.
  • Provide support to Access Network Operations to improve how we do network change.
  • Plan and develop efforts that lead to improving the customer experience.
  • Adheres to company NCM policies and other related Engineering standards.
  • Collect and review requirements for development projects in the areas of Access Networks and Data Analysis.
  • Develop automation code to meet project requirements.
  • Develop data analysis code to create insights and automation triggers.
  • Create Data products using Databases, Visualizers, Machine Learning Models and Development Frameworks.
  • Document, test, and monitor all developed code.
  • Mentors and trains other Engineering personnel in key elements of systems and provide technical presentations to instruct co-workers and other production services support individuals.
  • After-hours on-call to preserve system availability.

BASIC / MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum six (6) years development experience.

ADDITIONAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS
  • Ability to maintain and administer UNIX-based platforms, including performance tuning, package installation, patch management, network, and server management tasks.
  • PERL/PHP/Database development/maintenance.
  • Experience with troubleshooting tools (i.e. tcpdump, netstat, iostat, traceroute, snoop).
  • Experience with System monitoring applications (Nagios, SolarWinds, HP OpenView, etc.).
  • Solid understanding of LAN/WAN topology, network protocols (TCP/IP, FTP, NFS), switches and firewalls.
  • Proficiency with Python, Development IDE's and Frameworks.
  • Exposure to customer facing networks and systems.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Any certification in Python Development, Big Data, ML/AI is a plus.
  • Certifications in Linux (CentOS/RHEL, Debian, Ubuntu) is a plus.
  • Any certification in Kubernetes, Docker, Tanzu, Salt or Ansible is a plus.
  • Experience with GitHub or other SCM tools.
  • Experience in DOCSIS and routing is a plus.

The pay for this position has a salary range of $85,900.00 to $152,300.00. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience and location. Also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as bonuses.
