JOB SUMMARYAlongside senior-level engineers, the Network Engineer III will perform all functions relating to voice platform proof-of-concept and life-cycle initiatiaves to support ongoing and future voice product offerings. The work of the Engineer will focus on medium- to high-complexity projects and systems within a development lab environment. This position is office-based and located at the Charter Technology and Engineering Center (CTEC).

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience .• Contribute to the development of new strategic voice service implementations, with a heavy focus on technical requirements, industry standards, and the impact on existing architecture within the Charter Communications network.• Perform vendor proof-of-concept evaluations to support platform life cycle evolutions and new product initiatives.• Assist with the engineering, design, and maintenance of Ribbon class IV platform elements, including PSX, SGX, GSX, SBC, DSI, EMS, and DSC8000.• Assist with the engineering, design, and maintenance of Charter's STIR/SHAKEN signing and verification platform.• Assist with the engineering, design, and maintenance of access-layer session border controller platforms.• Create and maintain detailed engineering documentation for responsible elements. Perform technical reviews of documentation created by other team members to ensure both clarity and accuracy.• Create detailed test plan documentation to certify vendor software releases and validate application fixes prior to production deployment.• Engage vendor contacts and maintain relationships in order to drive both architectural development and escalated issue resolution.• Provide technical support and guidance to QA, Production Operations, and other Engineering teams, as needed.• Adhere to industry specific local, state, and federal regulations, as applicable.• Know, understand, and follow company policy.• Perform other duties as requested by manager.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSSkills/Abilities and Knowledge • Ability to read, write and speak the English language• Technical and product knowledge of the Ribbon suite of network elements with an emphasis on configurations, specifications, limitations, and design.• Technical knowledge of session border controller functionality and capabilities.• Basic understanding of STIR/SHAKEN concepts.• Knowledge of SIP-based industry standards and call flows.• Knowledge of both TDM and SIGTRAN (M2PA/SUA/M3UA) SS7 protocols including ISUP and TCAP and the uses of each.• Experience configuring and troubleshooting voice protocols including SIP, Diameter, SS7, SIGTRAN, ENUM, and DNS.• Experience configuring and troubleshooting circuit technologies including T1, DS3, and OC-x transport.• Demonstrated working knowledge of Linux-based operating systems.• Experience using telecom test equipment for both load and feature testing.• Knowledge of basic data networking technologies (TCP, UDP, IP addressing, access control lists) and troubleshooting methods.• Experience working with virtualized applications.• Experience participating on project teams for long duration, highly technical projects.• Experience with large scale voice deployments.• Ability to perform duties in a fast-paced environment with an eagerness to learn new technologies.• Ability to use personal computer and software applications.

EducationBachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field or equivalent work experience

Related Work Experience 5 years of Carrier voice engineering/support
