WMS Solutions Architect

The primary role of the WMS Solution Architect is to ensure that business processes and supporting systems continue to meet end users' needs. This position is a key liaison between the technical IT staff that implements application-based solutions and the line-of-business staff that performs the process work. Senior analyst must be able to straddle the IT and business domains and communicate between each side.

This person is a hands-on worker who will drive the creation of process models (primarily conceptual/logical models) and work with others to provide the supporting process ecosystem and implementations, including: screen interactions, dashboards, rule management and optimization algorithms.

This position deals with the more tactical, day-to-day aspects of discovering, validating, documenting and communicating business related knowledge through modeling, simulating, and analyzing current and future states. The WMS Solution Architect ensures that changes to the process environment are carried out in a seamless fashion. The role will also align and guide the team through architectural decisions.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor degree in computer science or related discipline, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of development, IT analysis, or closely related experience
  • 3+ years of experience in process/business experience that includes leveraging technology as part of a solution
  • Experience with WMS (Warehouse Management System) - ideally HighJump or Manhattan (others acceptable as well)
  • Business domain experience in the process areas being supported
  • Familiarity with balancing cross-functional business initiatives
  • Experience in process redesign methods (such as business process re-engineering, Six Sigma, or total quality management)
  • Hands on experience with process modeling, analysis, and simulation tools
  • Experience with end-user oriented technology, such as BI or performance metrics

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience designing and constructing comprehensive models of business processes, sub-processes, and their links to automated tasks in IT
  • Experience supporting a multi-location organization
  • Experience in Supply Chain/Distribution industries
  • Experience supporting HighJump
  • Ability to effectively communicate both the logic and values that lead to change
  • Knowledge of relevant business process standards, including Business Process Modeling Notation
  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing technology and apply it to business needs
  • strong analytical and conceptual skills, and the ability to create original concepts on projects

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to

Planning:

  • Understands how the business processes support business and corporate strategies and objectives
  • Understands how the implemented applications and processes support the business processes
  • Models and enhances important business process diagrams (for example, using a graphic-oriented business process analysis/modeling tool)
  • Works directly with business unit clients to document required business capabilities and enhancements
  • Demonstrates, via models, the opportunities for best-in-class process management to the process owner
  • Reviews the range of solutions available, and presents options and recommendations to the stakeholders on which ones to use
  • Determines and documents for the process owner the impacts of changes, and suggests policy, goal and rule changes
  • Understands application architecture and how to align technology to meet business requirements
  • Reviews requirements and recommends architectural changes

Execution:

  • Communicates and translates the required capabilities and outcomes effectively between business process areas and appropriate IT roles
  • Searches internal and external resources for prebuilt models, templates and services to meet process needs
  • Ensures proper coordination between the IT organization and process owners by defining conceptual and contextual levels of detail in the business process models
  • Educates process stakeholders on how to identify and solve process challenges through the simulation of different scenarios, analysis of performance metrics and advanced optimization techniques
  • Works with development and supporting team to implement architectural needs

Support:

  • Performs continuous reviews to align processes (for example, models, goals and expectations) with changing business conditions
  • Mentors development team on best practice and understanding of requirements
  • Contributes to the definition, development, implementation and maintenance of the business process improvement methodology to be employed
  • Maintains and shares process knowledge by embracing methods, techniques, notations, standards and best practices derived from the business process architecture team
  • Collaborates with IT peers in enterprise architecture, application development, business intelligence (BI) and other disciplines regarding business performance improvement

For Colorado Residents Only: The hourly range for Colorado residents is $15.00 to $25.00/hour.
