Weld County Department of Human Services is seeking a professional, bilingual Support Specialist to represent Child Welfare by greeting visitors in a courteous, efficient and customer focused manner. Answer general questions, offer assistance, and referrals to clients. Provide clerical and other support to the Child Welfare Division. Provide translation/Interpretation during Family Engagement Meetings and for other requested activities within Child Welfare.

Bilingual (Spanish/English) required.

Answer incoming phone calls when at the front desk. Identify efficiently and accurately the caller's need and direct caller to the proper extension or department employee in a customer focused manner. Provide calm, respectful responses to individuals in stress filled situations. Greet and direct walk-in customers and visitors and identify the purpose of the visit and provide assistance as needed. Oversee lobby and lock and unlock doors daily. Update lobby directory or announcement board daily. Monitor unauthorized posting in the lobby area. Keep the lobby area clean of debris and wipe down hard surface throughout the day.

Perform a variety of clerical duties that include data entry, imaging/scanning, mail distribution, copying and assembly of informational packets. Responsible delivering necessary paper to all copy machines. Replacing toner in copy machines and printers. Responsible for maintaining stock of resource material and application packets in lobby and place supply orders monthly.

Assist child welfare staff with various background checks and documentation. Perform various legal searches and background checks to obtain birth certificates and perform daycare background checks. Perform computer research of the state identification number in State computer system and enter the ID number into State Child Welfare data tracking system (Trails).

Assist in preparation of meeting room for all family engagement meetings, assisting in setting up technical equipment for teleconferencing, preparing visual aids and other requested services. Assist in keeping the meeting rooms clean, by wiping down the table, chairs, refilling water pitcher and restocking drinking cup before and after meetings.

Deliver time sensitive Court documents to the Court House once per day. Facilitate all required correspondence with participants of meetings including families, outside experts and professionals, involved community members and all participants within Child Welfare.

Set up ongoing Foster Care Review schedule coordinating with caseworker's calendars and the State reviews. Mail out letters to invite all individuals involved in scheduled Foster Care review. Monitor and schedule Family Engagement Meetings, through the schedule line, email or face to face requests.

Provide Spanish English interpretation for Child Welfare staff. Interpretation will be performed at the department, on the telephone, or out in the field accompanying a caseworker to the home or other location of a client.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education:

High School Diploma or equivalency.

Successful completion of an Associate's Degree is preferred.

Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

Required Work Experience:

Two years full time business or clerical experience in an office environment which includes a high level of customer service and working with the public.

Preferred Work Experience:

Experience working in a public or private human services organization.

Experience working in a Child Welfare environment.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

Must possess ability to keyboard at 35 words per minute.

Ability to read and write Spanish in a proficient manner. Ability to interpret and translate between English and Spanish using the professional language. Bilingual required.

Must pass Human Services background checks. Background checks include CBI/FBI fingerprinting and will continue to be monitored throughout employment.

Must possess a valid Colorado Driver's License and adequate Liability Insurance. Must provide own transportation and be willing to travel throughout Weld County.
