ABOUT ME:

Im a hard-working, college instructor, with a desire to make an impact in public health. I injured my spinal cord during an adventure race and am paralyzed from the chest down. I am currently seeking a live-in caregiver and roommate whose company I enjoy and has overlapping interests. I am interested in music, art, design, culture, science, health, technology, nature, being outdoors, animals (especially dogs), and good conversation.

PRIMARY JOB (value of $1,000 in trade for rent, HOA fee, utilities, WIFI):

Youd be here at night (10 PM-6 AM) in exchange for rent and utilities”you would primarily be sleeping but would also be available to help re-position (e.g. turn me on my side), give me a drink of water, etc., generally only once during the night, and in case of emergency.

OPTIONAL (up to $2,000/month):

Additional employment opportunities are available for the live-in caregiver to perform/assist with care and help with care management. The bulk of this occurs from 5:30“8:30am, 8:30-10:0pm, and at mealtimes. I currently employ several caregivers to do bathing, dressing, hygiene, grooming, toileting; to observe, document, report changes in health condition, maintain inventory; transfer between wheelchair/bed with a lift; to prepare food and assist with meals; exercise, massage, range of motion, and stretching, perform routine care of urinary drainage devices (empty, clean, etc.); apply and irrigate supra-pubic catheter; housework, office work, food prep, errands, transport and accompany to appointments, etc. Contract will be co-developed with applicant depending on experience, skills, and interests.

THE LOCATION:

Its a convenient location at Penny Flats, a mixed-use building at the NW corner of Maple and Mason streets, just one block from Old Town, Washington Park, and Lee Martinez Parks, a mile north of Colorado State University on the Mason corridor, which has bicycle and pedestrian pathways, and just across the street from the Downtown Transit Center and public transportation”the Max bus rapid transit and other options going to Boulder and Denver.

THE APARTMENT:

It is a beautiful, modern, spacious, 95% furnished 1,056 square foot, 2 bed, 2 bath unit with secure entrances, exits, elevator, and underground parking garage (with storage and bicycle parking). The unit has high ceilings and large closets. A large kitchen, dining, living area separates master bedroom from second bedroom and bathroom, providing privacy. Theres a nice view - above the trees and most buildings - and large windows and a balcony, providing nice views of old town and the mountains! Theres a state-of-the-art kitchen with stainless steel appliancesgas stove/range, microwave, toaster oven, dishwasher, washer and dryer in unit, and central heat and air conditioning, ceiling fans, high-speed Internet, and Wi-Fi.

ABOUT YOU:

At least 18yo and interested in medical/health-related professions and/or patient care.

Able to pass a complete drug screen and a background check.

Provide a resume and references and have a current drivers license.

You are kind, intelligent, caring, empathetic, compassionate, respectful, and willing to learn/help, calm under pressure and in case of emergency, flexible, mature, emotionally stable, self-sufficient, dependable, clean/organized, and goal/detail oriented, and have a good/positive attitude, good observation and communication skills, and physical endurance.

IDEALLY:

You have experience in health/medical field and/or patient care.

Prior experience is preferred, but not prerequisite. Will be trained/guided.

You love good food and conversation.

Seeking a place to live, a roommate and friend, and mutually beneficial relationship with a mentor in academia.

Im mainly interested in one individual but would consider a pair of friends or a couple if the fit is right.

$1,000.00 to $3,000.00/month at $12-20/hr, depending on experience, skills, shift time, and tasks.
