Description of JobPOSITION SUMMARY:This temporary position exists to provide field and data support to the Division 1 programs including hydrographic support, surface water administration support, groundwater administrative support, water operations accounting and use, dam safety support, and other support to office staff and programs. This support will include visiting sites and structures in the field, collecting and recording data, performing streamflow and groundwater flow measurement checks, completing inspection reports, and collecting and analyzing data in spreadsheets. Hydrographic support includes:

assisting hydrographic staff in the measurement, calibration, and maintenance of stream gages

surface water diversion and return structure assessment and measurements.

maintenance of stream gage equipment, infrastructure, and housing

maintenance of field equipment such as ATVs, mowers, weed eaters, pumps, etc.

collection of data, data entry, and data analysis in spreadsheets and DWR programs

Surface water administration support includes:

assisting surface water commissioners in collecting diversion data

completing field investigations of surface water diversions, measurement, and recording structures

preparing site visit reports of field investigations

compiling diversion data into reports and records

collection of data, data entry, and data analysis in spreadsheets and DWR programs

Groundwater administration support includes:

assisting groundwater commissioners in inspecting well sites and collecting data

assisting with flow measurements and verification of the accuracy of existing measurement devices

completing field investigations of groundwater wells

preparing site visit reports

compiling diversion data into reports and records

collection of data, data entry, and data analysis in spreadsheets and DWR programs.

Water Accounting Team support:

assisting with the research of existing accounting and water court decrees

collecting and populating spreadsheets with relevant data from decrees and existing accounting

analyzing existing data in spreadsheets

preparing reports of findings of projects to Division staff.

Other Duties and projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal RightsBASIC REQUIREMENTS:

Must have a current and valid driver’s license

Must have the ability to report to the work location, which can include off-road conditions and rugged terrain.

Possess strong interpersonal communication skills.

Proficiency with Google and Microsoft suites.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets, with the ability to work and create complex spreadsheets and accomplish data analysis.

Ability to work well within a team.

Must be willing and able to work outside, which may involve inclement weather.

Must be willing and able to spend up to several hours per day standing and/or climbing up and down hills

Must be able to lift 50 pounds repeatedly during the course of a workday.
