JOB SUMMARYResponsible for providing direction and leadership to designated engineering staff. Develop and maintain wireless technology solutions and oversee the execution of engineering initiatives. Coordinate and collaborate with product and other engineering organizations, Technical Operations and other organizations as need to ensure optimal customer experience, cost efficiency, effective implementation of the products and solutions as well as ease of operations. Responsible for developing capital budgets, purchasing, staff development, managing the support of existing products and the deployment of new products.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead multiple teams of highly talented Software Engineers in a Scaled Agile software development environment.
  • Partner with Product Management, Architecture and business stakeholders to create product roadmaps and release schedules.
  • Provide technical direction and drive roadmap execution while ensuring that non-functional requirements are incorporated such as application security, performance, and quality.
  • Manage/mentor employees, including hiring, setting and monitoring of annual performance plans, coaching, motivating, rewarding, and career development.
  • Advance the development of engineering standards/best practices, employee onboarding guides and engineering documentation.
  • Communicate project status and escalate issues to senior leadership, product management, and internal development partners.
  • Champion SAFe methodologies and leverage Agile practices to create repeatable and predictable software releases.
  • Define, implement and track team metrics and report on KPIs to senior leadership.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reductions.
  • Manage relationships with strategic partners and suppliers, including setting expectations regarding deliverables, product quality, schedules, and costs.
  • Promote and maintain good relations with internal organizations, vendors, contractors and government agencies

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSSkills/Abilities and Knowledge
  • Strong background with mobile software development across iOS and Android platforms.
  • Extensive experience in software development, architecture design, automation and Quality Assurance.
  • Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) or Agile framework experience including leading Agile teams, familiarity with SAFe/Agile ceremonies.
  • Ability to think strategically and translate business needs into effective engineering execution by removing roadblocks and providing guardrails for the team to succeed.
  • Experience with attracting and retaining top talent.
  • Strong technical leadership background with ability to inspire and empower those around you.
  • Demonstrated passion for people management, mentoring and growing software engineers to meet their career goals.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Self-motivated individual, able to work through ambiguity and under pressure to meet commitments within tight time constraints.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, changing priorities, make decisions and solve problems while working under pressure.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCESkills/Abilities and Knowledge
  • Knowledge of WiFi and Wireless technologies, architectures and standards.
  • Solid understanding of the AWS technology stack (e.g. EC2, S3)
  • Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery
  • Understanding of Test Driven Development (TDD) and an automated testing mindset
  • Strong familiarity with software architecture patterns and their application
