Software Engineer (Backend, Java)

This position is an individual contributor role reporting to the Senior Manager of Transaction Service Application Development. The successful candidate will be part of a team to design and develop REST based APIs and perform unit and integration testing on newly developed components.  Candidate will assist with troubleshooting and resolving defects during the software development life cycle. Candidate will interface directly with staff members of Development, Product Management, Project Management, and Quality Assurance.Essential Functions:Gather and analyze requirements from product ownersDesign and develop highly scalable and fault-tolerant systems using Java, J2EE and open source technologiesUnderstand and adhere to SOA principles utilizing a REST based foundationDevelop, document and implement new functionality, as well as enhancements, modifications, and corrections to existing softwareDevelop unit-tests and oversee executionCreate documentation and procedures for installation and maintenanceBuild and maintain relationships with global and virtual teams on software development or support issuesWork as part of a development team and establish close working relationships with stakeholders, quality assurance, architects, as well as managementIdentify opportunities for further enhancements and refinements to standards and processesPrepare design documents, evaluate and recommend solutions to meet user requirements, define and implement solutionsThis is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.NOTE: Thank you for your interest in the position.
