Job Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe Device Engineer is part of the Device/Network Solutions Engineering organization and is responsible for the device certification process, ensuring 5G capabilities are fully tested for compliance on the DISH 5G Network. You will be responsible for facilitating the successful design, integration and delivery of devices/chipsets/modems/modules and their technology capabilities and related service features for DISH 5G Enterprise, Wholesale, MNO/MVNO and roaming efforts. DISH’s vision for its 5G SA network is to utilize O-RAN and cloud-native core technologies operating on a flexible and open compute platform. You will be responsible for ensuring that device, chipset and network features and technologies come together in support of this vision, with validated features and verified performance against quality assurance metrics.Essential Functions and Responsibilities for a Device Engineer
  • Consistently and repeatedly deliver on testing and configuration of all new User Equipment (UE) for DISH’s retail and wholesale MNO/MVNO channels. Ensure the Device/Network organization consistently delivers UE Technical Acceptance (TA’s) to device OEMs with timeliness and quality.
  • Collaborate and guide the key industry partners such as UE OEMs, chipset vendors, RAN/CORE vendors, and test equipment vendors to drive and enhance the environment, process, tools, and plans with the goal of establishing trusted relationships that result in the most efficient and effective system for device validation/verification and associated TA deliveries.
  • Be a key contributor to hardware/software requirements for UE devices and own the related day to day communications with Device OEMs, vendors, internal engineering and customer product stakeholders.
  • Log/track issues and bugs identified through the course of testing
  • Be responsible with an ownership mentality for enabling the team to best triage activities, workloads and schedules in both Lab and Field test environments.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholder colleagues from device technology, roadmap, product management and network technology planning and engineering teams to continuously deliver ongoing successful Interoperability Development Testing (IODT), Interoperability Testing (IOT), Field Interoperability (FIT), and subsequent integrations all with an ownership mentality.
  • Collaborate with post device launch quality assurance (QA) teams in troubleshooting and root cause analysis of device issues in the field and facilitate subsequent corrective action recommendations to vendors.
  • With automation always top of mind, help process owners develop and continuously improve systems and tools for effective task execution by your team.

Skills, Experience and Requirements

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or computer science or related degree
  • 2+ years of experience working directly with a major wireless mobility device OEM and associated chipset providers and RAN/CORE vendors in bringing commercial devices and networks to market.
  • 2+ years of experience in cellular product network certification on network-specific configurations (e.g. DNN/APN, eSIM), network features testing (e.g. RF conformance and parametric testing, VoNR, RCS, roaming) and OSS/BSS integration
  • Familiarity with 3GPP & GSMA standards and associated 4G/5G Radio Access Networking technologies. Proficiency with 4G/5G device services (e.g. IMS/SMS/RCS/eUICC/SIM/OTA-DM/VoLTE/VoNR/VoWiFi/e911/RTT/CMAS) and associated device chipset and core networking architectures and technologies
  • Demonstrated skills and a passion for mentorship, relationship building, collaboration and team development.
  • An enthusiastic, clear communicator
  • Experience in a high-availability, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong customer service focus and experience working with operations.
  • Proven problem solving, organization and verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Ability to influence thinking or gain acceptance of others in sensitive situations.

Salary RangeCompensation: $75,600.00/Year - $108,000.00/Year
