Job Duties and Responsibilities

DISH Wireless is looking for a highly motivated SRE Strategist to be part of the 5G Technology team. As an SRE Strategist you will be part of the architecture team and be responsible to advance the vision of full automation using the latest and continuously improving CI/CD practices, infrastructure as code, and software efficiencies.

The Strategist will be responsible for working closely with DISH cloud partners on disaggregated scalable architecture and loose coupling between hardware and software to create automation tools and processes for network testing, monitoring and data collection to improve network reliability and availability.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Define strategies to optimize the network Life Cycle Management (LCM) to maximize service reliability
  • Define Reliability Metrics (SLO/SLI), Observability metrics(Monitoring, Logging-Tracing solutions), Ops processes (Incident, Problem Mgmt) and streamline release management
  • Increase network performance through system and component design reviews, and process improvements
  • Design and implement methods to minimize and eventually eliminate all manual interventions to deploy zero touch software-defined infrastructure (IaC), removing errors and inconsistencies
  • Research and evaluate automation tools to operate, monitor, and maintain highly available geo redundant network services in hybrid cloud environments
  • As needed, write software to automate API-driven tasks at scale and contribute to the workflow engines
  • Assist in building the required tools to configure and update infrastructure and applications using Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) practices and policies
  • Identify tools for Configuration Management and automated monitoring of all infrastructure
  • Continuously study the open-source software infrastructure components, that are used or planned for applications and servers
  • Consider security and access control across all domains and at every control point
  • Proactively identify potential trouble spots and create mitigation strategies
  • Supervise other SRE Engineers
Requirements:

The candidate shall have the following attributes/qualifications:
  • Master's Degree and 10+ years of Development and Operations related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • At least 6+ years of experience working in a modern engineering services team where you've built and extended an automated CI/CD pipeline
  • Relevant experience in either Telco, Financial, Healthcare or other relevant industry implementing high available systems in multi-cloud environment
  • Deep understanding of Kubernetes and experience in hybrid cloud deployment
  • Experience with available tools for monitoring and operations. Worked with Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Terraform or other configuration management / orchestration suite
  • Expert in writing code using Go or Python
  • In-depth understanding and experience with Linux-OS Internals and administration
  • Detailed understanding of Networking and experience as SME on at least one of the Cloud computing Infrastructure - Google Cloud Platform / Azure / AWS
  • Hands on experience with container deployment, PaaS tools such as ELK stack, Kafka etc.
  • Proven record of continuous improvement on previous iterations
  • Ability to work independently in fast paced, rapidly changing environment with minimal supervision
