Data Center Technician you will be responsible for providing support for structured cabling, hardware - network installations, equipment removal and power distribution. The candidate will assist with troubleshooting network and hardware issues.MAJOR JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:- Perform installation of routers, switches, servers and other devices in Data Center.
- Prepare equipment cabinet space for power, ethernet and airflow\cooling management.
- Perform ethernet, fiber cabling and x-connect activities.
- Able to use Cable\Fiber Test Equipment
- Respond to SNOW (SERVICE NOW) tickets following methods\procedures.
- Document and keep elevation documents up to date.
- Track inventory and assist with asset management related tasks.
- Assist with troubleshooting Data Center hardware and provide remotes hands support for internal teams.
- Respond to and escalate equipment alarming.
- Weekly visual inspections of Data Center.
- Maintain a clean and orderly Data Center.
- Provide inbound-outbound shipping support.
- Available for emergency on-call and shift work including midnights.
- Limited Travel for project support required.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Telecom experience
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate's degree in computer science, management information systems, electrical or electronic engineering or a related field is preferred
- Minimum one year experience in computer operations, telecommunications, desktop/PC support or related field required
- Minimum one year Data Center or Telco/IDC Environment preferred
- Must be able to lift 45+lbs
- Occasional bending and stooping, carrying heavy items (45lbs+), crawling and kneeling, fingering, working on ladders, standing, walking, or pushing items
- Frequently working in confined spaces (i.e. computer work room, under desks, install areas, etc.) and grasping items
- Must have enough mobility to transport heavy equipment to assigned work location and to stand and reach with both arms above head for cable and equipment installations
- Should be able to hear and detect equipment or room alarms and may need to carry on conversation in high noise environments
- Must be able to detect color coding on cabling and read fine print in low light situations
