About the Role The Maps Experience team wears a few hats. We build frameworks that are used by all the major Uber mobile apps that require maps/geospatial knowledge. As an example, we own the location editor that powers the start and end of every Uber trip and. Additionally, the team is responsible for the user journey for the Pickup Request and the rendezvous experience. The team works on the experiences that Uber products use to convey the physical world in a screenful of pixels. This is a full stack team that owns the solution space end to end. We build the user experience for Maps including the selection of pickup and dropoff points, the frameworks that display maps, show markers and icons on a map, and the systems that understand the user location to determine if everything for a pickup or drop off is going well so that we can reassure the users throughout their journey. We power the intelligence and backend systems that drive these experiences at a massive scale. Every trip at Uber utilizes the technology developed by this team. We work on large scale distributed systems, pipelines and ML systems to influence millions of users everyday. What You'll Do Drive execution and results for the team. Working with partners to come up with metrics for the teams success and represent the team to stakeholders and the rest of the organization. Establish the team vision and roadmap by assessing the direction of the company and the needs of customer teams. You will align and translate this into short team tactical plans and a longer-term vision. Hire and develop engineering talent Collaborate and influence other business partners by sharing and communicating roadmaps with external teams & setting shared goals across teams to collectively deliver results efficiently. Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience Solid experience building full stack products software across the stack (mobile, consumer/enterprise products, backend services, data pipelines and ML) in product engineering. Experience building and leading a product software engineering team. Preferred Qualifications 4+ years of experience managing a team of engineers with a diverse skill set. Track record of leading, recruiting, and retaining strong engineering talent and growing effective teams. Experience building consumer facing products with a large user base. For Colorado-based roles: The salary/hourly rate range for this role is $182,250 per year - $202,500 per year. You will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award, commissions, & other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
