Maxar is seeking a Network Engineering Architect to join our team. This role can be located remotely in the US. In this role, you will work within the Network Engineering department to help drive the next generation of network systems at Maxar. These systems help our commercial and government partners realize value in our unique solutions to problems that are global in scale. We provide Space Infrastructure and Earth Intelligence services for customers ranging from startups to humanitarian organizations to government intelligence markets.

Your Career: Maxar has an established customer base with existing infrastructure solutions and expects to continue to adapt to changing customer needs, evolving security architecture requirements, AWS automation, and new network trends. In this role, you will use your deep knowledge of network engineering, security compliance, and AWS to meet these future needs.

Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate and design security architectures for compliance with NIST 800-171 and similar framework.
  • Analyze existing security controls and identify opportunities for improvement in conjunction with Network Security personnel. Perform gap analysis and recommend changes. Develop recommended remediation processes and work with colleagues to implement changes.
  • Evaluate new technologies to improve existing infrastructure with a focus on increased security and supportability.
  • Develop highly available architectures and drive implementations in support of business initiatives including LAN design, WAN connectivity (carrier based, VPNs), cloud-hosted environments.
  • Work with peer organizations on new initiatives and customer requirements.
  • Turn customer needs into a requirements matrix for design.
  • Conduct and document trade studies on new solutions.
  • Develop design documentation and proposals; present technical deployment plans to peers within the organization, as well as outside organizations and executive leadership.
  • Develop and present training documentation and high level design guides, for the Network Development team to build final solutions.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and be willing and able to obtain a Secret security clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or related field. Four additional years of work experience may be substituted for a degree
  • Requires 15 years' experience architecting/administering LANs and WANs (data, voice, security) in a complex operational environment, including maintaining and creating documentation of solutions
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with network security compliance, such as NIST 800-171 security framework, and how to architect compliant network solutions.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with AWS networking and security architectures, including VPCs, Transit Gateways, Direct Connects, and virtual firewalls.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience with data / IP networking and protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP, GRE, VXLAN, EVPN, TCP, FTP, DNS), and layer 2 protocols
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience with Juniper or Cisco routers and switches

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Active/current US government security clearance
  • Vendor certifications
  • Knowledge and experience in the Agile framework and process
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills, including creation of SOPs, maintenance plans, network drawings.
  • Strong analytical abilities
  • Must possess a strong client focus
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with Palo Alto Networks firewalls, and F5 load balancers, Infoblox DNS infrastructure

The compensation range for this position is $117,750 to $196,250 annually.

This position is also eligible for a bonus plan.
