Teach students to lead active and healthy lifestyles by implementing the Coordinated Approach to Child Health (CATCH) curriculum during After School programming at Summit County elementary schools.

Pay Status: Nonexempt; $15-20/hour, based on experience

Program Overview and Job Summary:

The KSS After School Program implements the Coordinated Approach to Child Health (CATCH) curriculum at Summit County elementary schools. The program is designed to promote healthy physical activity and eating behaviors in children, and it aims to equip children with the knowledge and skills to make healthy decisions, all while having fun. Each day a healthy snack is served as children participate in a nutrition lesson. Students then engage in exercises, sports-related skills practice, and non-elimination games. The program is grant-funded through partnerships with community organizations.

After School Program Coordinators, Facilitators, and Subs are responsible for completion of administrative tasks, developing and implementing the CATCH curriculum, and teaching students about health and exercise. Administrative tasks include: prepping and planning daily snack and nutrition lessons, planning objective focused activities and games, conducting parent and student surveys and assessments, communicating with parents and families, distributing bi-weekly newsletters, tracking class attendance, and managing on-site registrations.

Our required education, experience, and certifications:

Current First Aid and CPR certifications, from an approved vendor, or the ability to obtain before the first day of employment;

Must be able to successfully pass a comprehensive background check.

In addition to the above required talents, our ideal candidate will have these preferred skillsets:

Verifiable education and/or experience teaching school-aged children;

Professional or personal experience with nutrition, health, movement, and recreation;

Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.), Google Drive, and Adobe.

Travel Expectations:

After School Program staff may be required to attend meetings and snack pick-up at the Keystone Science School campus and will be required to travel to one or more elementary schools within Summit County. Locations

include Dillon Valley, Frisco, Silverthorne, and Summit Cove elementary schools.

The office space is small and the employee must have the ability to stay focused while others are working in close proximity. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but varies seasonally due to programs and staffing on campus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee often works outside in various weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Required Dates and Times of Employment:

The After School Program Coordinators work schedule follows the Summit School District calendar. The program will NOT be held on any No School days or in the event of school cancellations or early releases. The After School Program Coordinator position is part-time, averaging approximately 15 hours per week. Coordinators must be able to work at the following days/times:

Mondays from 2:50p-5:35

Tuesdays through Fridays from 3:45p-5:35

Additionally, Coordinator attendance is required at monthly Coordinator meetings, and time will be required for administrative tasks, lesson planning, snack prep, parent correspondence, and program set-up and take down.

Compensation:

Hourly rate of $15-$20, depending on experience. Staff are eligible to be considered for raises following each successfully completed 12-week session of programming.
