POSITION SUMMARY: The duty of the front desk agent is to check in and out guest that are staying with the hotel.
They are to accommodate guests’ needs while maintaining a safe environment while on duty. These things are
done by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Check in guest by checking their ID to match the credit card. Verify the address, phone number, and email
address.
Have guest sign the registration card at check in. Inform the guest regarding the pet, smoking, and
incidental policy they are signing for.
Imprint the credit card on the back of the registration card.
Collect $200 for security deposit for all cash paying guest. Fill out the paperwork and file it in the security
deposit binder.
Direct guest where their room will be at, but do not say out loud their room numbers. Tell them about the
fitness center, business center, Wi-Fi info, and breakfast hours.
Charge guest credit card at check in, print the receipt showing how much was charge, and have guest sign
the receipt.
Understands room status and room status tracking.
Must be sales-minded. Presents options and alternatives to guests and offers assistance in making
choices.
Uses suggestive selling techniques to sell rooms and to promote other services of the hotel.
Coordinates room status updates with the housekeeping department by notification housekeeping of all
check outs, late checkouts, early check-ins, special requests, and day use rooms.
Possesses a working knowledge of the reservations department. Takes same day reservations and future
reservations when necessary. Knows cancellation procedures.
Maintains guest room key storage, and maintains and supervises access to safe deposit boxes.
If guest extend their stay, reprint a new registration card showing the new departure day, post payment,
and have guest sign the new receipt showing the new charge on the credit card.
Perform a bucket check at least once during your shift. This includes a credit check of all in house guests.
Walk the hotel at least twice during your shift.
Express check out needs to be done.
Be professional to all guests while meeting any request made to accommodate guest needs while staying
at the hotel.
NIGHT AUDIT DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Run all reports for night audit.
Charge all remaining balance for all departing guest.
Preparation of breakfast food items in assistance to hotel’s breakfast attendant.

High school diploma; or up to 6 months related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and
experience.
