Job Description

Job Title: Promotora (Latin@ services coordinator)

Reports To: Executive Director

Status: Non-exempt (Part time). Position is eligible for pro-rated benefits and pay is dependent on experience ( $15-$19/hr).

Job Summary: The Promotora(Latin@ services coordinator) works collaboratively with the Executive Director, outreach coordinator and Victim Advocates to promote services of The Alliance, and provide support and resources for victims of domestic violence or sexual assault and children. The Alliance strives to ensure thoughtful and supportive work culture for all employees. This part-time position is based at the primary outreach office in Salida. Services are provided in other similar environments like community forums, classes, fairs and events.

Key Job Responsibilities:

Provide direct services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, in Spanish and English.

Work with individual clients providing appropriate victim services including crisis intervention, emergency safehousing, advocacy, peer counseling, emergency services, referral to other agencies and accurate documentation. Facilitate support groups.

Provide legal advocacy to victims of domestic violence & sexual assault including court accompaniment for civil and criminal hearings.

Provide community education and awareness trainings, Platicas to Spanish speaking audiences. Conduct outreach efforts geared toward increasing awareness of The Alliance's services.

Recruit, train and supervise Spanish-speaking volunteer peer leaders who will work in the Latino community to raise awareness of services and prevent domestic violence and sexual assault.

Build relationships with strategic partners in the community to increase awareness about the Alliance's services in underserved populations.

Attend weekly staff meetings, monthly supervision meetings with the Executive Director and will attend trainings as directed. This includes mandatory attendance in the 30-hour advocate training.

Be on-call as scheduled. This will include at least one week and one weekend each month.

Collecting data from evaluation forms sent to clients served and to outside agencies.

Support ED to review agency documents and resources for cultural competency.

Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications:

Education: High School Diploma

Language Proficiency: Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) with monolingual Spanish speakers

Hours: 20 hours per week, flexible evenings, afternoons and weekends.

Other Desired Qualities:

Experience and knowledge on client-centered services and trauma-informed practice.

Passion for implementing the mission of the organization.

Able to work some nights and weekends.

Exceptional written and oral communication, and presentation skills.

Expertise and proven skills in organizational communication and outreach.

Valid driver's license, background check and motor vehicle record.
