Network Engineer III in Colorado Springs, CO supporting the Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) product line of the Specialized Warfighter Development Contract (SWDC). The OPIR is responsible for the development, test, and operation of simulated and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) representations of satellite sensors and related systems for the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) and Ballistic Missile Defense System Test and Exercises. The selected candidate will be required to stay current on requisite network technology design requirements and to create engineering design artifacts. Tasks include designing\implementing switch, firewall, and router configurations, and owning the interface control document (ICD) for networking. The selected candidate must possess appropriate knowledge and experience with DoD instructions and other guidance as required in order to provide network engineering support to include designing, implementing, maintaining, and monitoring system security requirements and other regulations and guidance. The candidate selected for this position is responsible for working collaboratively on a team that reports to Information System Security Officer (ISSO) on matters relating to cybersecurity and operational health of network infrastructure. The candidate must have effective communications skills and be able to work as part of a team with process owners, information technology management, and peers to achieve the OPIR mission. Major duties include: Responsibility for the design, implementation, and maintenance of the OPIR Network Infrastructure: switches, routers, and firewalls required to support ground and flight test operations. Interfacing with service providers to troubleshoot any network related issues. Working with system administrators and cybersecurity engineers to ensure that network infrastructure is in compliance with all regulations, guidance, and Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs). Maintaining ICDs as deliverables to the customer IAW DoDAF and DISA Connection Process Guide artifact(s) to achieve system Authority to Operate (ATO). Work with system administrator(s) to troubleshoot and repair any internal operational issues. Work with system administrator(s) to install, maintain, and operate computer systems IAW applicable STIGs and Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts (IAVA)s. Basic Qualifications: High School diploma (or GED), plus 9 years of general experience or an Associate's degree and 7 years general experience or a Bachelor's degree and 5 years' experience Must have a current DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II certification with Continuing Education (CE) - ex. CCNA Security, (Security+ minimum) or be able to obtain it within 90 days of hire. 5+ years of relevant experience directly related to network engineering In-depth understanding of network technologies and associated services, management, and security practices/techniques Familiarity and ability to read, understand, and implement configurations of:Cisco firewall experience Cisco router experience Cisco ACS RADIUS, TACACS, RSA two-factor authentication Cisco LAN Core and Distribution switches, experience with ACL's, routing, hardening Cognizant of network topologies and an understanding of configuration details Familiarity with TCP, and secure protocols Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing Must be a U.S. Citizen, in possession of a Secret Clearance Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge/experience/administration of UNIX/Linux environments to augment system administrator(s) Knowledge in scripting to automate tasks Knowledge/experience with STIGs Network Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
