Detailed job description, including responsibilities, work performed, tools or equipment used, etc.:

  • The trail crew is the crew that maintains the mountain during the summer months – i.e. hiking/biking trails, summer fencing, brush control, hazard trees, beetle tree removal, erosion control
  • Operate hand equipment or tools: shovels, racks, picks etc.
  • Very labor-intensive position that will require heavy lifting
  • Assist with the supervision of the crew
  • Operate equipment such as chainsaws, brush cutters, hydro-mulcher etc.
  • Required paper work will need to completed in a timely manner
  • Compliance with all company policies and procedures as well as any regulatory requirements
  • Other duties, as assigned

Minimum skills, experience, education and ability required for this job:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must have at least 2 years experience on trail crew
  • Must operate equipment safely
  • Supervise and guide personnel in accomplishing daily tasks
  • Interact and maintain positive relationships with guests, co-workers and management consistent with SSRC’s Service Excellence standards

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be physically fit with the ability lift 50 pounds, walk and stand for long periods of time, continuous lifting, walking on uneven terrain, digging holes, cutting trees, cutting brush
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and pass motor vehicle background check
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all seasons of temperature and weather
  • Job dangers include: light equipment operating in mountain environment, tree felling, brushing, laying pipe, building trails, working in adverse weather, animals in the forest

Miscellaneous information:

  • This is a hourly non-exempt position and is subject to overtime pay
  • Position is required to work weekends, evenings and holidays, as needed

Hourly Range:

The base hourly pay range below represents the low and high end of the Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation hourly pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term and long-term incentives and many region-specific benefits.

Steamboat area base hourly pay range: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
