The Raster Product Innovation Delivery (RaPID) team at Maxar is seeking an Agile Software Engineering Manager to lead a cross-functional team responsible for building and maintaining services in our fulfillment domain. This team and position are based in Westminster, CO.In order to be successful in this role, you must be a self-motivated leader passionate about developing best practices and working collaboratively to build foundational product capability in a service oriented, cloud enabled architecture.Life with UsYour Project: The Software Engineering Manager is an experienced leader who can advocate for the customer and business. Day to day, the Software Engineering Manager will manage a team of systems engineers and product owners and will collaborate with agile teams responsible for building and maintaining the fulfillment engine behind our imagery products as well as stakeholders through all aspects of the product development lifecycle. You will work with your manager to set goals and design a development plan to advance your career.Responsibilities:- Manage the high level allocation of resources to new feature development, balancing that against the paying down historical technical debt. Knowledge to make these decisions is gained by participating in daily operational standups to review system issues, on-going discussions with architects, etc.
- Risk mitigation within team via knowledge and task cross training, etc.
- Participate in staff recruitment, performance assessment, salary, training, career development and recognition/disciplinary actions.
- Coordinate vendor contracts, deliveries and schedule with affected company parties.
- Continue refinement of the software development methodologies and tools by the organization.
- Must be a US citizen and be willing and able to obtain a Secret security clearance or higher
- Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline (Computer Science preferably). 4 years of additional experience may be substituted for a degree.
- 8 or more years of relevant experience. (A master's degree may count as 2 years of experience.)
- Familiarity and experience working with a Systems Engineering organization, including requirements analysis, concept definitions, architecture and concepts of operations.
- Familiarity with a range of software development methodologies (i.e. waterfall, iterative, agile, scrum).
- 5 years of software engineering management experience, preferably in organizations using agile team based practices.
- S trong sense of self-motivation is essential - must be willing to be actively involved in the details of the system design and operability
- Successful at multi-tasking and able to simultaneously handle multiple priorities
- Able to identify and resolve project issues independently
- Has strong teamwork and collaborative skills
- Program and project management experience.
- Knowledge of micro service based large-scale systems.
- Working knowledge of AWS or comparable cloud technologies
- Strong management, analytical, and written/oral communication skills.
